Hay /diy/
I need to replace this resistor? in a power supply, already replaced the fused but this is also broken, the circuit worked but this was smoking. the supply is very old and I can't find a replacement so trying to fix it. is this a carbon resistor? if so what type? can anyone tell me the modern equivalent i need to replace it with?

that's a diode, did you even fucking search 1n5401?
still available at fifteen americents each.
another pic of what it came off, the other 3 seem to be fine, it must be a resistor right? but at what resistance....

15V power supply. Man those are hard to find!

boiz thanks for telling me what is was and im glad your getting salty up in here

>resistor?
its a diode

That is used to rectify that transformers output to DC could 400v+ depending on the CAP sizes or 15v from the transformer, cap voltage is good way to tell the output voltage of the transformer where it safe voltage or not, and they will be close the those diodes or follow the pcb traces
Anyway here an image explaining what the PCB letters mean.

If you dont know that thats a diode, you shouldnt be working with electronics. You'll burn down your house or electrocute yourself
Fuck. Take your cheap shit diode bridge rectifier, or as you know it, fucked carbon resister with 3 pals, and shove it in your ass.
Replace all four tard. Total cost 50 ausfag cents, or nothing to normalfag with ten dozen better rated diodes already.
Perhaps investigate using hot glue rather than solder to install them. When complete, turn unit sideways and shove in your ass, before turning on. It will take a crane to pull it out.
are you guys going to tell me the rating of this resistor or are you going to keep being fags about it...

It's a 3A 100PIV 'resistor'

So you're the guy who decided that /diy/ needed more shitposting, huh?
