Is there anything more destructive than steel wool?

Fire. Hydrofluoric acid. My dog. My dog on fire after drinking hydrofluoric acid.

I use 0000 for furniture refinishing.
After I get the stripper off with a plastic scraper I dab the steel wool in fresh stripper and rub the surface.
It takes off anything left and makes it all uniform. The steel wool is fine enough that it doesn't mar the surface and will leave hardwoods extremely smooth.
Love this stuff.

Nope. Steel is a much harder material than titanium and steel wool would scratch the poop out of titanium.
My submission. My roommate used these on my expensive Shun knives and ruined them. They also make mincemeat of nonstick coatings. This is because of the aluminum oxide grit embedded in the pads. Throw them all out and replace with the blue pads.

Flatmate stripped the veneer from our kitchen cupboards with these cunts. Didn't notice until it was half way through.
Good bye deposit.

As another anon said steel is one of the hardest metals and therefore it can be pretty destructive. However, there are finer grades of steel wool which can be as smooth as high-number sandpaper.
Steel wool is generally for scrubbing shit off rough surfaces, stripping paint, that kind of thing.
Noteworthy is that copper wool is a thing, copper is very soft and naturally antibacterial.

Had to use toothpaste and polish untill all surfaces looked acceptable enough.
Why are there idiots who can't recognize an abrasive material when they use it? Some people are just retarded.

Some scouring pads (especially the "heavy duty" ones) have abrasive grit in them. They're effectively a sandpaper sponge. Gotta be careful if you're planning on using them on anything valuable.

I'm pretty sure a man with a pad of steel wool could destroy an A10.
30mm cannons can't destroy an A10 but steel wool could probably absolutely and permanently ruin an A10 like /trash/ deflowering a dog.

>like /trash/ deflowering a dog.
Ummm link ?

Steel wool can't fly, the a10 is safe.

Gonna need source on stainless work hardening to significantly harder than high carbon given the same treatment.

This. 0000 is great for rubbing on worn out finished wood and then apply a layer of wood oil or rejuevenator

These fuckers are pretty much the only thing that can touch dried loctite without scratching the fuck out of the part it's on.

Get any drill, get a standard high speed steel drill bit, go to any fast food restaurant (source of ultra shitty 304 stainless). Try to drill a hole in their stainless with your drill and bit. You are now experiencing work hardened stainless as your bit turns pretty colors and spins with no effect.
Sorry for being a smartass, but this is what anon is talking about. Other kinds of stainless don't act like this (416 is a dream to work), but fuck 304. It's a total bitch to work without the right equipment. Would make some good stainless steel wool.
>>1049051
>Try to drill a hole in their stainless with your drill and bit
(Not the other person you're arguing with)
304 is the least expensive stainless that I can get from a store nearby, so I'm used to it. It's easy to work with. Heats more than normal steel upon cutting with angle grinder, but apart from that I noticed no big differences. Drilling, cutting with fret saw, welding... all goes fine. Even threading with a normal HSS die caused with no trouble.
No, I don't have any fancy drill bits. I just keep them sharp.
>416
416? What kind of steel is that? my local supplier does not even have it on the list of available ones (http://www.investa.pl/oferta/stal_nierdzewna_poradnik_tabela_gatunkow.html).
>>1049032
>loctite
How on EARTH do I get loctite out of my clothes without making a hole and sewing a pad over mentioned hole?
It's a very itty bitty amount but it has turned black from washing.
>>1049092
It's cool, I wasn't the guy he was responding to either! From when I understand 304 needs a fairly fast feed and slightly different bit geometry to work well, and in my experience that's true, though sharp bits are always a plus. You have to stay ahead of the work hardened surface. You must have stumbled across the secret and gotten lucky! 416 is a common gun barrel stainless. Works better than chrome moly in my opinion.
>>1049107
try acetone, but don't get your hopes up.
>>1049145
Loctite makes a wax seal of sort, I haven't read anywhere of any kind of detergent that would dissolve it.
Their own suggestion is rubbing with soap and water. It didn't end well for another piece of shirt I had.
>>1048113
Jet fuel?
Fucking your sister-in-law?
Nuclear weapons?
Loctite is a plastic. I don't think you wan to try a heat gun or a torch. Get over the stain or replace the garment.
That shit is why I wear one color shirt, black, and usually wear black jeans. Best /diy/ color for gearheads.
