so if anyone can help me use the program these california cocksuckers wrote that would be so sick

all i just need to make my serial port setting and the setting in python match with the serial rs232 (or maybe is rs422) of my robot and then i can do some command line shit real time kinda

using human networking, i got the seceret password for the robot that lets me unlock all the PAY FOR options for free so thats sick

I've done serial in C++ C# and C, how hard could it be? You know any python? You on windows? You really should find out if your using rs422 or rs232, you'll need a converter if its rs422, also not all computers these days even have rs232. You got the manuals, gotta find out the baud and the other settings like parity and shit. Pretty much the shit in pic related, most important is baud, if you cant find everything some of the settings more or less have defaults.

It's not RS422. Nobody uses RS422.

If it's RS232 you'll probably see a chip on the board with a name like "MAX232". If there's no chip it's probably TTL-RS232 or LVTTL-RS232.

9600-8-N-1 is the most common com port setup.

python program is for an older robot that uses a baud of 4800

my laptop defults to 9600 and i cannot change it for some reason in ubuntu. im running unbuntu because its easy and its an old laptop, i got this old laptop specifically for rs232 port on the back

so the program seems to default to 4800

but my robot i think is all kinds of adjustable up to 9600

i need to get all 3 of these things on the same wave link and then i can back up/ load files to the robot

i also have an issue on which cable im suppossed to use and which communication protocol and these dicks wont answer me on IRC if its BSC or FC1 (motoman protocol)


so i need to verify pinout though


i made a cable that is similar to this, except the host side is a 9 pin, so i converted the 25 pin PC side, to 9 pin by swapping the pins to the appropriate pins on the 9 pin config

do yourself a favor, get a [Pic Related] null-modem adapter - this does the crossover bit as per your pic - the rest, _always_ stick to straight through wiring, whether 9-to-9 pin, or 25, or with a 25-to-9 adapter (also buy).

Never blown up an RS232 device by wiring it wrong yet - whatver pins it doesnt use, it should ignore, solves the wire 6 or not? mystery. So, a 9-9 straight cable, a standard DB25-to-9 serial adapter, and a null-modem adapter, as pictured - if you cant get it running with some combination of these, you fucked. Prob. ;)

Are you the same guy from like a year ago that got an arm like that for cheap and was trying to get it running in his dad's garage? I remember issues with a flaky encoder causing it to shut down and lots of weed.
