I make bows recreationally, whenever we go out to the cabin I chop down a tree and attemp at making a bow. best not to make it with green wood, but work with what you have. strip off the bark and then start shaping with a knife or machete. do not pierce the top layer of wood on the face of the bow or your bow will be weak. when stringing the bow for the first time do it in small stages as to not stress the bow and snap it.

Backyardbowyer on youtube is good. Works mostly with PVC
