Fuckin 60's circuit boards man, I'm trying to do a total recap on this stereo console, but at this point I dont know if its even worth the headache.i have the schematic and service man, but still. I've worked on 70s boards MUCH better than this.
>each board is hard wired to others making individual removal inpossible
>capacitors wired to resistors
>caps hiding under other wires
>no clean organizaton

PCBs were new. They were still half in tag strip mode mentally. Take care because some of those old pcbs fall apart easily.

This has plenty of strips, which I shoud've expected but still surprised me. I downloaded the schematics before I bought the unit, and it seemed straightfoward until I saw it for myself.
To replace all the caps would cost me about as much as I bought the console for. Debating to just buff up the wood, re lube the record unit and dust out and reselling it. I love recap jobs but this concerns me
Country of origin?

Magnavox, american, 1964.
some of the cap numbers dont even match with the schematic, fuck

that's an easy one. I recapped a 60's tube FM tuner that was harder to do than that. Man up! puffball.
inb4 this thread becomes a pissing contest

inb4 waaaaaahhhh! I got in to a hobby that requires effort and I'm a whiny little millennial.

How do suggest getting to the caps that are buried under wires and resistors? remove each one by one?
>>1038696
snip them out and place them more conveniently. the beauty of point to point wiring is you can place components almost anywhere you want. Seriously working on this chassis is easy you have TONS of room.

After playing around with it, I was able to move the boards around to get to the capacitors. The new ones I ordered should be here thursday

I put in all new capacitors and it seems to be running good so far. still have to fix the FM issue
