hi 4chan! I`m trying to design my own white noise machine. I have minimal (2 high school classes) experience in electronics. It needs to run off of 12V 2A DC and it needs to be capable of powering a strip of 3 LEDs as well.
so, to be clear, my criteria are:
>12V 2A DC (the only power supply I have under 20v and above 7.5v)
>has enough leftover energy to power 3 LEDS on a strip
>breadboardable
>can plug headphones into them (aka no external amplification needed)
the only noise source i see being used normally is an NPN transistor with the collector arm disconnected.
pls help
pic unrelated but it's my iron I use
also any tiny tiny bits of guidance in the correct direction are appreciated. would an audio amp chip (LM386) be better than an op amp for any reason? all of my chips are tested and salvaged from audio gear
Literally first google image search result for "white noise circuit"
2A is well above what you need for this.

so i just checked my audio amp chip and my gf stepped on it and it lost all of it's pins. would an op amp with the same gain work?

you can set up a 555 chip and allow pin 5 to float. That tends to generate a decent amount of noise.
Lerking for justice.
Interested in making a generator out of an altoid tin can.

Compare the specs and data sheet. An Op Amp != Power Amp.
You can use an opamp to build an audio power amplifier, but it will require additional components.

the fuck does that mean
if you decide to get lazy just turn a cheap radio to an in-between station for the static noise, then add the LEDs

alarm clock radios at a thrift store are also a good cheap method if you don't want to buy a new one.

I think it means, why were your chips anywhere that they'd get stepped on?
