Benefits of doing a core aeration on a lawn yourself vs. Having a professional do it for you?
Thinking about doing it myself, but have not done it before.

don't you try and ruse me

do it yourself
BUT
talk to a few other friends and/or neighbors and rent a machine from from home depot or something
that's what I do every year (there's like 5 of us in this)
this way you pay a few dollars for a decent machine
a few beers and everything will run smooth!

How hard is to do a good job if I have an irrigation system and underground fencing without breaking shit?
>>1033650
check the length of the spikes on the roller and deduct about half an inch
check the depth of your buried shit
compare
also remember that aeration needs to be followed by (over)seeding, fertilizer and watering (if it doesn't rain) daily for 2-3 weeks otherwise you dindu nuffins

Not hard at all, provided that you flag the sprinkler heads. The tines will not go deep enough to puncture the lines.

OP, I did lawn care (aeration, thatch & slit-seeding) for a small business this past spring/summer. I would recommend you purchase the service from a local company and watch them work. Get the full service so you can see how everything is done, then next year you'll have a much better idea and plan. It'll cost you, but think of it as training that helps your lawn too.
If not, just watch some videos on Youtube. The biggest issue is having a vehicle that can haul the equipment. Aeration by itself should be fine, but you might as well get a thatch and seed in while you're out there. Mow your grass frequently and cut it short, that will do the most to prevent issues later down the road.
Definitely take the other anon's advice and try to go in on rentals with neighbors/friends.
That's all I can say right now. GLHF. Peace.

That's what my dad and the neighbors did when I was a kid.
I'd shoot the plugs with my slingshot

If you don't care about your lawn, you need those things.
