Not the anon you asked, but pretty much. Yard sales are good for hunting, closing businesses that are liquidating are even better. Recent score in this area was a hotel that got all new furniture and just threw the old stuff away.
If you are good, furniture repair for moving companies can make you money.

I do it as a hobby, but I couldn't imagine making a living off it. Just the sheer volume you'd have to go through, not to mention actually selling the damn things.
