I think this is an excellent use of a geodesic dome.

So many people think they're going to take what you've done and line it and make a floor and live in it with their family and friends... and they just don't work for that. (archifag here)

They're terrible acoustically, not great thermally, and they're difficult to furnish and organise spatially.

But they're perfect for putting a lid over your project for a while. And there's not many buildings you can create with so few tools/skills/materials.

Why not one dome with plastic covered with expanding spray foam stuff? Seems easier than making two china doll domes. Then paint it with that heavy duty waterproofing latex, then spraycrete it. The first step you should've done which I recommend you do now is order maybe 3-4 cubic meters of crushed rock and 20-50 kilos of rock salt.
Dissemble your dome.
Spread the rock salt on site.
Spread the rock, over the salt.
then hire a mechanical compactor for $20 and flatten a circle that is about a half a foot off the ground in height.
This is called a pad site.

The reasons for this is two fold.
The salt will suppress weeds and kill any existing and discourage plant runners.
The crushed rock will give you not only a more solid footing than dirt but also in winter give you drainage so the water doesn't run under your dome and waterlog inside.

Pull it down and do it, will cost you probably $200 max but it is well worth it just for drainage alone.
Also your table will sit flat.

If your dome were a cylinder and you could actually use all of your sq ft (You can't, at all), you'd get $16/sq ft

This guy is kinda like me. Building something that seems cool and fun and exotic but probably not ideal for the intended application.

Also that pathetic first attempt at pressing the tube ends. I do things like that all the time. The only disappointment was that he immediately gave up and bought the proper tool. It's way more fun to try one home-brew idea after another until you hit on the one that works.
