Hey, /diy/
My mic cable snapped internally and I've managed to separate it where the fault occured and strip both ends.
Seems to have two wire bundles inside, each containing a nylon bundle.
My plan for fixing it is taking a lighter to each wire end and burning away the nylon, intertwining the wires, heating the wire with a lighter and then applying solder.
Will finish it off with some electrical tape for insulation.
Anyone see a problem with the plan?

There is a reason soldering iron exists, so use it

Would do if I owned one, but I don't do enough soldering to justify buying one when a small roll of solder and a disposable lighter are so much cheaper for a one-off job

Lighters don't solder

Solder just flows onto hot metal, so if the wires are hot enough the solder should join.
Besides, this isn't going to work. I've just spliced the wires and, keeping them separate, tested it. Still not working.

You are a smart motherfucker, nobody could think of that
