Just cut it shorter.

Size seems fine to me. But if you do want it narrower, aim your cut an 1/8" on the waste side and then sand down the rest.

Just my opinion, but you could make two 30x27" square-ish coffee tables. Keep one, and sell the other.

Yeah. Two little square ones probably won't work, but 5' seems like a lot of table. I build 24x48" tables, and they're on the big side.

You should disinfect, and apply protein decomposing chemicals (as used in blood cleanup crews). As some substances may remain in the cracks, I recommend being as thorough as possible before cutting to ensure good surface contact with glue, stain, or any other substances you may be applying to the table, and next time use a napkin or condom to reduce mess.
