One of the things I would put a lot of thought into is the Callidus assassin's Polymorphine. You could have her take multiple forms throughout the story, or one that is particularly meaningful to Curze, or something else, but it seems like a neat thing to utilize for smut.

I'm toying with the idea of it being a moment of supreme catharsis for Curze, because finally he's reached the point where he'll be released from the unending torment that his life's become. People stopped show up after a while, which is frustrating because my attempts to keep it going by posting stuff I found suffered. It never got the critical mass.

... except for the script kiddie assholes who nailed the SMF and started installing backdoors. All three times I took it down, it was because I had to purge and reinstall stuff. That is one reason I don't use SMF anymore, it was so popular that people were hacking it faster than I could patch it. The clean process took a few weeks, because I'd have to go through all the database records, strip out out the hacking, reinstall, and then figure out how to get the theme and plugins working again.

With almost no one commenting (but still 30k visitors/month), I pretty much said "fuck it" and started migrating to a static site (which is *really* hard to hack). Of course, then I needed a forum for the people who didn't go through Patreon (most of my commissioners get "free" patron access), so I created discuss.curiouscabbit.com which still doesn't have a lot of traffic, but less "other stories".

Discourse is actively maintained, updated every few days, and seems to be pretty stable. It also lets you spread the load out more, which is important for forums like Dolcett Girls who have 100k+ users. Given the hacking attempts, that is a big reason why I switched.
