I have to mirror Vluirty's sentiments and say that I find setting daily goals to be the most effective way to motivate yourself. I generally do 2000 words a day, but it could be 1000 or even 500 depending on how much time you have and how fast you write. Even if it feels forced, if you get at least 'something' done that day then you can go back and polish it up later.

Talking about Literotica: why does the site look so horrendous? It does have a fucking terrible UI, they've got a revamped account management page that looks more modern, but the overall site is like something straight out of Geocities.
I guess they just built and retained a large install base early on so there's no real demand to update the layout, I definitely feel as if a lot of people who use the site are older than your average internet cross-section.

Another thing you should consider is this: is that story really that interesting? Of course writing is not always nice and dandy, and it requires some grinding, but I noticed that sometimes if it feels "hard," it might be simply because the story is not interesting enough even for me. So I just stop and rethink what could the problem be, and usually when I find it, I can go on again or just scrap the whole thing.
