In retrospect, my phrasing could have been better. I was tugging the hook and giving them a (you), while trying to be cogent with a low-grade fever. The last part is revealing itself as a consistently bad idea.

I have managed to build a Hypno-HMD prototype though. It's a pair of over-ear headphones (for binaurals or what have you) and a Knox Next headset (for visuals) with a few iterations of homemade headband mount and some reinforcement.
It's sketch as fuck but it blocks light from outside and has a microfan for anti-fog.
Current setup is two parts for ease of individual adjustment.
