I title the sources of all images I post. This is from Shihou Sekai No Ou. It's an okay manga but I felt a lot of the plot lines got overly complicated at the end and the ending was a bit underwhelming. Minor spoilers: the girl in the pic loses an arm (reattached later), gets sliced into little cubes (reattached later), and gets all her limbs removed (all are reattached except for 1 arm which she spends the rest of the manga without. It's pretty cool since there are some chapter cover pinups of her with only one arm later on.

The samurai tone of it reminds me a bit of Genzo, a manga about a puppetmaster and one of his allies is a girl missing a hand (and there's also a cute female villain who loses an arm eventually). In Spirit circle there's another scene where a female ninja (or was it samurai?) loses an arm and leg while dueling with the MC. Spirit circle is actually a pretty good read too. I only saw the first season of the Freezing anime back when it was first airing. I remember in the first episode someone loses a leg. Other than that, another girl loses an arm, then there was another girl near the end who got both arms cut off at the shoulder. None of the limbs are lost permanently, they have future tech that grows and reattaches body parts, or at least that's how it went in the anime.

I don't know what goes on in the second season, so if someone could enlighten me on if amputations happen in it, that would be appreciated.

It's just my opinion and rationale for these opinions man, I'm not saying you can't like them or that they're not hot for other people.

That said, I do like the prosthetics in that comic that page is from, they contour quite sleekly with the rest of her limbs. It helps that she's pretty thin which makes the transition from limb to hook much less sharp and that she wears pants that hide the rods of her legs prosthetics. Also, the straps needed to keep them on are fairly minimal and not overdone like in >>7339747.

Losing any finger already drastically reduces hand's functionality. If we're talking all fingers on one hand as that anon wanted, it may as well be a below elbow cut. Except that one can get a functional prosthetic and is much prettier both on (cool and mechanical) and off (sleek and streamlined) it than having a fairly useless lump of flesh that sticks out like a sore thumb.

I haven't used the fingers on my left hand (except for the inch or so that I'm not cutting off) since early last year. I get where you're coming from, 4 fingers is a lot, and you would think it'd be real hard to do anything. But it's not hard at all. I've figured out how to 99% of things flawlessly, and the handful of things I struggle with only take a second or two more.

No way man. If I chopped half my arm off, that arm is practically useless aside from pushing and maybe holding a few things. I'd have to rely almost totally on my remaining arm. With 4 fingers gone I can do pretty much anything unhindered

Ever ask why so many amputee wannabes have to take matters into their own hands when getting a particular limb or limbs removed? Some go to extreme measures to conjure up 'accidents', others go to other countries like Mexico, India, etc. to pay off doctors to do the job. Both involve a high amount of risk and can result in death (recently there was a man who died in Mexico after paying off a doctor to remove a leg). Now, you can make the argument that not all these people have gone through any type of counseling to solve their BIID through conventional methods. However, it's obvious that conventional methods don't always work, so what then? Do doctors just let these people suffer day in and day out with their condition because they believe removing the healthy limb is harmful to the patient? How much mental harm do these people have to undergo to outweigh the perceived physical harm inflicted by removing a limb or limbs?

As for the 'drain on society', I fail to see how that's a significant issue. There are already plenty of able-bodied people who are a drain, which I bet is a larger number than the prospective number of wannabe amputees. And not every wannabe becomes an amputee simply to increase their dependence on someone/society.

I don't claim to know much about BIID, but I'm certainly not going to blame the dude if he doesn't want people to know he self-amputated. Hopefully, he seeks out the appropriate therapy beforehand and decides if this is something that can be fixed just by talking or possibly some medication (is there medication for BIID?), but if that's not the case I've head stories of people with BIID feeling better post-amputation. It sounds crazy to me, obviously, because I don't have the disorder, but fuck if whatever they have is so bad that losing a limb manages to be a net improvement, then fine.
