Then again, I'm not a woman myself, so it's really hard to tell from an outside perspective.

Vore is one of the most strange fetishes around.
Normally I don't think too much about it, just wack it and leave it for the ISP to deal with it.
But it's actually kind of fascinating when you delve deep into the subconscious reasons as to why this could be seen as attractive.

I guess I can only speak for myself, but the part of it that gets me is the appearance. Most if not all vore is based around the simple idea of a woman eating someone. So not only is the woman getting food (evolutionary wise creating a feel-good effect inside the male brain), while also giving the appearance of being pregnant (which in of itself can have its own levels of attractiveness) but more importantly it would mean that not only is your woman getting food, but so is your child.

I think allot of it has to do with these deeply rooted primal aspects of ourselves that we probably won't ever leave behind, consciously or subconsciously.

Surprise surprise, the majority of characters are dull and underdeveloped if you remove the vore part. I'm not asking for an extremely well done, deep character with noticeable flaws and a broad story line here from fetish characters, but it's probably wise if we all admit that our fetish characters aren't good characters and serve as an outlet for us to collectively fap to.

A lot of the problem is that most people prefer fatal vore, and don't put a lot of effort into generating interesting scenarios for fatal that aren't some variation of "in a world much like our own, this woman eats people". When your character is going to be casually murdering people all the time, the only personalities that really make sense are "alpha huntress who doesn't afraid of anything" and "clumsy dork who accidentally eats people".

Seeing the same character win all the time , and just do repetitive scenarios over and over really made me not appreciate any of the content he puts out anymore.

I'm a writer myself, and I can almost never bring myself to do the same pred twice. I'd rather do role reversal, or a plumpened predator ending up a meal themselves after getting cocky.

There are so many Mary sues in vore art. Off the top of my head you've got Ryla, Aesir's female self insert is such a sue. There's probably loads more that I can't name off the top of my head. Powerful characters are only good if they're interesting or compelling and they're not that, because they're all dull as fuck when you're not thinking with your dick. The worst part is because it's all just fetish fap fuel, people are willing to give it a free pass. As a writer myself, it annoys me so much. It also helps me to strive to write better characters, so silver linings.

This is all art-based, by the way. There's much better roleplay characters out there.

I actually kinda had a problem with the same 'undefeatable' aspect. Messaged them a while back on Eka's with that complaint, and got a pretty detailed rundown of why it's like that, pretty much boiling down to 'it's what the community enjoys most'.

This is what made me excited for Queen of Hearts, as they explained it's what THEY want more than the community. Struggle, injury, and just a hard time. Think this image is what they referenced, when something is UNSUCCESSFUL.

They at least seemed receptive about not always winning.

- No flower in hair(goes with no clothes I guess)
- Markings are all different(Alice's markings actually look cool though, as opposed to these ones which have no flow to them)
- Skin color light purple instead of light blue

- Hair white with purple tint instead of white with slight blue tint

All of that effort to make a character with less personality and less visual appeal, amazing.

Huh, come to browse the vore thread here, and see a heated discussion over Ryla.

Ryla's owner here! So, it's nice she can cause some debate, and I appreciate the critics and fans alike. Some people adore her, some hate her, and that's just the way it is, and pretty much the way it should be. Noone can please everyone, and there will always be some who don't like one thing or another, but others who love it. Same goes with my writing - I am by no means a professional, but certainly hope to improve more and more over time!

Certainly, the 'infalliable' skills of Ryla is the largest complaint I get, and the majority of that is simply because most of what I post is not meant to be taken super seriously. It's all for fun! Of course, I listen to the critics, and will be having more 'losing' battles in the future. I don't like the typical mary-sue characters either, which is why I have a few pieces of her getting wounded. Doesn't mean she will get eaten, as I prefer to stay away from that, but she's also not the be-all-end-all!

While the outright hate is a little sad, I do appreciate constructive comments, and also appreciate those who say they like her as-is. Please don't argue and gripe over her though. It's really not worth it. In the end, she's a fictional character made for a niche fetish, and is simply there to provide a bit of enjoyment to those who do like her. If you don't, there's no problem at all just looking away!

Saying it's all for fun doesn't make you immune to having people look at your stuff critically. It's easy to say it's 'for fun lulz' and not have to change anything, but it doesn't mean you're above it because it's just for fetishy stuff.

Which is good. The other criticism that people have is Ryla doesn't show enough personality beside being an infallible predator. So give her more character and have her lose more often is what we're all saying.

I'm not! Part of the reason I responded is to say I'm not ignoring what I hear. I'm not going to go out of my way to please those who don't like it when the intention is just fun stuff, but I intend to have more 'serious things' that should please both sides.

No, I agree, it doesn't. I don't care if people look at her critically, everyone should look at all characters critically. See if they are interesting. See what makes them work. It's difficult to stick alot of 'personality' in a comic or bit of art that revolves around vore, but that's something I hope to fix with the big 60+ pager coming out! More than just vore - story!
