Basically yes. There is an a ton of male subs and relatively few female doms. There were even storys of male subs getting throw out of munches because of the stigma around male subs. Brand new people to the scene who did nothing getting punished for shit they did not do. The stigma around them turned most of them bitter which altered their behavior and further increased the stigma. When there was so much bitching that half the threads were whining and no pictures being posed people just gave up and went to other more specific threads.

All generals are clique-y. Fuck Gentle Femdom ruined femdom threads on /d/. The mods only allow ONE femdom thread up at a time regardless of subcategory. If you put anything that is in anyway sorta close to hard or aggressive femdom they will literally REEEEEE and spam the thread or straigt up abandon it and make a new one leaving it to be pruned.

Because of the mods any other femdom threads get deleted before they even reach 100 posts even if its all pics. They even posted in thread a few times instructing us to merge with the gentle femdom general.

Generals as a whole just need to be banned. What gets posted gets posted and leave it at that.

The /bdsmg/ threads first began to appear in late 2012 (December, I think), and for the first year or so were pretty allright. Some good, decent advice even on techniques and etiquette. Also, seeing as how even today I'm not getting any, it was fun to at least read about other people's experiences and methods of play. It was eye-opening to see that you don't have to lock yourself into just one way of thinking.

But around 2014 the generals saw a massive spike in elitism. The whole deal turned into an exclusive jerk circle, where only that certain group of tripfags were ever acknowledged, while others were pretty rudely just ignored, no matter how reasonable their posts were. Considering the open ended nature of 4chan, this did not come to pass without some massive fucking backlash, as many anons felt ostracized. Virgin anons bitched and moaned about not getting any for themselves (even I did that), which sparked massive drama. Somebody got upset over those bullshit online BDSM-test thingies, which got posted frequently. And the worst part, the porn they posted was always either reposts of reposts, or no porn was posted at all, because the users were too busy fighting and bickering. Finally, the appearance of the so called "Rape-anon" triggered the final meltdown.

Rape-anon advocated and supported rape in his posts, and this triggered many users (most assumed to be females) pretty hard. In short, after many months of in-fighting, and inane, Facebook-level shitposting with no decent offerings of porn on the side, the whole thing turned into an intolerable shitstorm. The BDSM generals were finally trolled into oblivion. As I remember, the last one was number 250-something, so a pretty good run.

As for me, the toxicity of the final era generals actually put me off from trying BDSM for real. It's already bad enough that the scene 'round my neck of the woods is poisonous. The BDSM generals showed me that the communities are completely batshit insane all over the world, and actually attempting this shit is too risky and dangerous for me.
