I've gotten this request before, and I have to say I really don't understand it. I feel like the justification for why these stories work behind the scenes is better left up to the reader. There is supposed to be a layer of absurdity that separates the story from real life, because otherwise I would have to start throwing around un-sexy words like "death", "murder", and "suicide". Explicitly spelling out a reason for it would either be just as absurd as what it's trying to justify, or so dark that it removes the charm from the vore stories themselves.

You're certainly welcome to come up with a reason for yourself. I have some working theories too, but I just don't feel like it would be beneficial to write them out. That's really not the point, and I don't really have the time or inclination to build up a persistent universe around fetish comics. In fact, I would generally assume that, unless it's explicitly stated to be the same setting, none of my comics take place in the same universe. For example, I feel like the mermaid one up there works better in a world without (human) vore.

Hey Shadowfaps, I've got to say you're my favorite vore artist! Well, on the science side of things, prey would definitely suffocate LONG before death no matter what you do. Increase of stomach gases over time plus the fact that your stomach will forcefully reject air (something about that kind of pressure being bad for your tummy. I dunno. I think this and Movie Night were me biting off more than I could chew, time-wise. Also, I usually want to make these comics because they're sexy ideas to me at the time that I start. But, it slowly becomes less of a thing that turns me on, and more of a project. At that point I have to go through the rest just sort of hoping that it's still as hot as I thought it was when I started, because I can't tell anymore. I always want the next one to be better than the last one, meaning I spend more time on it, but I think now that maybe that urge is detrimental overall to output. Personally, for me, it depends on several factors. Like the setting and characters. Sometimes I'm rooting for the victim to survive somehow, sometime I hope they die a slow and painful death.

I think my personal favorite scenario is more reluctant than willing, perhaps in both the case of pred and prey. Like, a qt giantess who's never actually eaten anyone before but wants to know what the hype is all about, or maybe a shrunken person with a mouthplay/vore fetish that does want to be swallowed, but ends up immediately regretting it.

I think one of my all-time favorite stories was one of a husband who shrinks himself for a few days because he has a giantess fetish, and wants his wife to play with him and swallow him on his last day of being shrunk, but only for a few minutes because he doesn't want to an hero. Sounds like you could try editing your comics down. Draft them really quick and rough and then see if you can cut parts out. Preserve the sexy idea that got you started but try to convey it in fewer panels, focusing on the shots that really matter (and maybe using text panels or silhouettes to bridge gaps).

You get to put your idea on paper and avoid burnout as you don't have to spend loads of time drawing ancillary scenes that don't interest you as much as the money shot. A possible bonus is that you get to try more ideas and make more, shorter comics in the same amount of time

I'm a big fan of your work but I reckon you could lose or condense half the panels from your mermaid comic and it wouldn't detract much.
