5000 word update, iron fists of justice edition. New content at "The pack stood grouped together warily as the shuttle roared overhead"

Finally delivered that Rock Bottom that I failed to put in Purple Heart.

Now all I need to do is see if the commissioner wants any changes, then edit the two gay/hetero versions and chapter them. Then I can make the Ebooks.

Those of you who have been waiting until it was done to read it will probably want to wait for the chaptered versions, which should be done by tomorrow.

Anyone interested in some hyper pregnancy ideas?

My favorite is just randomly write crap for 1-2 chapters. Eventually you'll get into the plot. Polish it up and then cut those first chapters as throw away. That way, you can cut much of the tedious startup and get closer to an in medias res that a lot of authors prefer.

Not the guy you're responding to, but the guy who did the first round of reviews. I liked it better the first way. If you need to change things around for the plot, that's fine, but you should keep the introduction focused on their interaction. Instead of saying how things have been, have you considered starting the story with the MC bitching while having to do one of those menial tasks? I believe that it might be a good introduction for both characters if it opens with him having to escort her in public. Since you're obviously fine with cliches, she could have him pretend to be her boyfriend.

As it stands right now, you have about a page and a single line of dialogue separating the first word of the story and the beginning of a rather explicit back rub. It feels as if there simply isn't enough between the two to really set the stage for that scene.

Normally I dislike cliches, but this time I realized that trying to buck them too hard would've done more harm than good. In retrospect, I shouldn't have tried to do anything too daring with the fic since I had planned for it to be less story-heavy than usual.

Oh sure, you just have a lot more abbreviated version. You could quite easily pull it off with a few paragraphs/scene for each "step". Also remember you can skip some steps as a variant, which makes it easier to fit into a short story.

You might find it easier for readers to parse if you keep paragraphs to a single topic. I would have put a chapter break before "The boy" and then join it with the next paragraph. That way, you have one paragraph about the girl, and then one about the boy and his words.

I'm not too far into it but this has a lot of "tell" in it. You tell us she fears, she did this, she did that. I prefer it when it is more visceral and the immediate. It helps build up an emotional rapport with the characters if you get into their head and show their actions instead of just telling us.

What I think you should do is, as I said previously, use what you've got now as a framework and then fill in the gaps. Add more detail, more descriptions. Make it so that it's no longer just a broad overview of what happens, but zooms in for parts so we can see the glorious details.

Let me give you a critique thus far. Be warned, I'm not going to pull any punches here- when I said I had high standards for robot girls, I meant it.

I get the idea that you're trying to make it clear Val is meant to be an antihero, but the interaction between him and the "angel" is almost painful to read. There is no reason at all why she hasn't left him and found someone who isn't scum to work with, which is all the more galling given how blatant she is in regards to her contempt of him.

Similarly, Val's character up to this point all but screams "sell her". Him deciding he wants to play hero defies all the characterization you gave him thus far.

(Making 3-dimensional characters in general is still your greatest weakness, I'll add- so far I can count all the named characters' personality traits on one hand. If needed, I can link you to some resources to help with that.)

I can't say much about the smut, since gay stuff and traps are a turn-off of mine. I am however disappointed about the absence of robot sex.

I gotta say, I really expected better from Snek than what's been posted thus far, and if he wants to salvage it he had better start either explaining things or fix the plot so it doesn't clash so horribly with the characters. Right now, the only impression it leaves on me is that all the characters are clinically insane.

Almost all of those complaints relate to information that has not yet been divulged to the reader and will be as the plot develops.
You can probably guess that I'm leaking out world-building and plot information at a steady pace, all of which has already been developed outside of the story.

To address those points would be to reveal massive spoilers, so I can't do so, nor can I say if or when he will bang the robot. Keep in mind I've only just passed 10,000 words and I expect this story to reach 60k at least.

As for her motivations, it isn't her choice to stay with Val for reasons that have so far only been hinted at, and it has been repeatedly stated that seeking out the help of someone else would certainly result in her being captured and sold.
The reason he hasn't sold her is because he believes her claims of being an angel and that the world will end, based on her supernatural manifestation.

There's a lot to come, and at least the intended appeal of this story is discovering the secrets along with Val as they travel the world.

I would argue that the problem isn't making three-dimensional characters, but making characters at all. What we have here are basically just wraiths that dance on the strings of plot. Nothing ties them to each other or to events. It's like being stuck in an endless "party meets at a tavern" session. There are numerous sites for posting the stuff I've written, but all of them seem to either have too great constraints or limitations regarding content, or are not intended for erotic literature at all.

archiveofourown.org seems to be intended mainly for fanfics and not for original stories.

literotica.com has only one person reading the submissions, meaning it takes forever for your story to actually be published there, plus the site has a very low tolerance toward graphic/violent content and zero policy on sex involving under 18 year old characters.

hentai-foundry.com offers the change to post stories, but obviously with a heavy focus on explicit smut and not that much for longer, more drawn-out stories.

deviantart.com also is a place to post stories, but as far as I've understood erotic stories are not possible or if they are they have equally tough restrictions as with literotica.com.

Literotica and StoriesOnline are the best in my experience.

The Lit upload process sucks and they have the most annoying restrictions like a character limit on the descriptions that makes you abbreviate it to the point that it loses all meaning. That said I get like 10-20k views per story there easy and enough feedback to trip my spam filter. Once you actually get the story up there's a ton of traffic. It's worth dealing with the BS.

SOL has a much better upload process and also a good amount of traffic, but they have some paywall stuff that puts a lot of readers off. I usually get 3-6k views there.

I tried Hentai-Foundry but the upload system is the worst I have ever seen, I had to copy and paste content directly from SOL in order for the formatting to be at all readable. It just butchers anything else I try to paste in the text box. It's janky and slow, and the way they do chapters is annoying. Traffic is shit too I get like 300 views per story and zero comments. It also took them about 20 days to approve and upload my character art.

FurAffinity has such a lenient upload system and the people there are so friendly that even though I don't get much traffic it's worth maintaining the page.

It's a good incentive, you'd be surprised how lazy I am most of the time and having a set goal every day and a schedule is very motivating. I really appreciate the support, I should be able to afford more art next month, and thanks to donations I was able to buy an old ThinkPad X31 so I can keep writing when I have to travel in March.
