The tongue part is a little awkward but it's mostly because the gag isn't super large, so it doesn't hold as well. So using the tongue feels like pushing it out a little, but it's still really funny. As for the seal I think it does a pretty good job, but I have the model with a locking collar attached, so I guess that helps tighten up the neck a good bit.

Wouldn't be hard to bind latex to another material, it sticks so easily itself!
Just like any standard PVC backing, you could fire the same on to a latex sheet.
I'm sure you can buy them online in rolls. (I'll be getting a PVC roll myself, latex ones are too expensive for me at the moment)
The downside of binding it to a backing is most of the stretch will be limited, unless you use an equally stretchy backing. That is harder to bind to it since it needs to be almost exactly equal or it will stretch at different speeds and come loose. Bad times.

Airflow, unlikely. Solid sheets lack the airflow.
Perforated latex would probably be too weak.
Not only that, the reason for the heat being trapped is no EM above infrared is allowed to escape the body (our body technically glows in the low-red range)
And if it is black, any light falling on it is usually absorbed pretty well, heating it up further.
