Not necessarily. A bunch of women at the start would be quarantined and would probably be treated like animals (even if mean don't mean to do it) until it's shown that all women are doomed (making quarantine useless) and proven that whatever is changing women isn't going to start changing men, while men stuck with wives, daughters and friends slowly turning into cows and pigs or whatever try to care for them despite not having the resources to do so.
