I personally prefer rather little in the way of accessories. I prefer to see my pet for what it really is, and have the actual aspect of being a pet mostly come from my pet's behavior.

My practical experience is close to zero, but I prefer the pet to shed its humanity on its own, rather than through toys and suits. But I love collars, as a personal touch and a symbol of the relationship between the pet and its owner.

Depends on allergies, leather is better over winter, but can get really hot and sweaty over summer depending on the climate, metal ones can also get pretty cold over winter.

Collar at all times, and a cuff or something that can be secured to the wrist to swap out for public. My main thing for my pet is for them to acknowledge and realize that they are owned, never lacking the ability to remember that fact and always refer to me properly. These would only be voided for obvious medical or safety reasons.
