/efg/ - Erotic Fiction General

This is a red board which means that it's strictly for adults (Not Safe For Work content only). If you see any illegal content, please report it.

Thread replies: 455
Thread images: 70

This is the go-to place to discuss (and produce) erotic fiction of all types, from the fap-and-go fics to porn with a substantial plot. Drawfags are also welcome- illustrated stories are the best ones! For drawing requests also check out the /d/raw thread:
https://boards.4chan.org/d/catalog#s=/d/raw

Writefags, consider pastebin/titanpad rather than dumping for your stories. You can also use 1d4chan for /tg/-related smut

You are advised to tag your stories so that people know what they're looking at. This will attract more feedback from people interested in the themes you're exploring. Consider quoting the OP when delivering. This will make it easier to find (and critique!) the new stories in a thread.

People appreciate it a lot when you give them constructive feedback and criticism, so make sure to do so. We thrive on it. Don't be afraid to speak your mind about a story that caught your attention. This will help everyone in the long run.

Requests are encouraged to promote a steady flow of new content. There's nothing like a good request to get the creative juices flowing. Try to expand your ideas - a bare-bones request doesn't give us much of a good idea as to what you want. Have fun with it! Keep in mind that it might take some time to get to yours, and each writefag is interested in different kinds of things.

Remember to post pictures when possible to keep the thread alive, but keep image dumps to a minimum so that more OC can be posted.

Commission requests welcome.

I created my own publishing company. The editor is a bitch but it worked out in the end. :)

>>7020439
Good start. The teasing, details, I like those.

"I melted off the wall" was a strange phrasing.

“You’re a shemale?” I wanted a bit more emotional introspection before you got to that question. Most people who respond to something first think, then move, finally speak. This is a good point where you want to draw it out a little since it is so unexpected.

Friend of Snekguy here. To the anon in the previous thread who asked about making ebooks, the free software Calibre has a conversion and editing tool. You might run into some issues because DOC, ODT and similar file types are more feature rich than ebook formats. But you'll figure it out.

There was a porn purge a few years back because of images inside ebooks. Amazon (and a whole bunch of others) made a blanket ban for images inside books. Covers are okay, but naked women getting impaled on tentacles (apparently).

Returns are... harder to talk about. I don't really advertising and I only have the two books for sale. I've been writing for 25+ years, mostly smut, but I never really worked to establish a reader base who would actually pay. Eliza is my best novel, a lot of folks like it. A couple hundred dollars a year, but I really need to establish more readers.

Plus, coming up with a book more than once every three years would have probably helped.

From my experience, coming out with more books really helps. Patreon is helping a bit toward that and I really hope Derik's Luck will push me toward getting this more than just writing /d/-related smut for free.
>>
>>7020557
>porn purge
Fuck.
I might have dial back my covers as well then, I had some rough ideas for one.

I might also have to look into patreon, I pulled carpal tunnel before I could really get into art so I never ended up exploring it but you're not the first person I've met on here who uses it.

Covers are different. If you have a too risque cover, Amazon puts you in the "dungeon" (search for Amazon dungeon) which means your books don't show up under searches unless someone explicitly books your book title and name in. It kills the random sales entirely which means you have to build an audience otherwise.

Mummy's Girl got in there because it had a naked illustrated butt on the cover. Eliza is because... well, I'm attaching it.

Now, my D. Dancer byline has very Bauhaus covers and they are fine (mostly text with images) but gay porn isn't as exciting for me as tentacles, mummy, sentient dinos, and submissive males in harems. :)

I decided to try Patreon to see if it works. So far, I'm getting 1-2 new folks a week. I happened to have a number of serials in progress (Omelas just finished), so the "carrot" as it were was getting to read to the end instead of me slowly posting a chapter/week.

I mostly work word-of-mouth so... it is slower than most people.

Also, if I get enough through Patreon, I might write a Kindom of Loathing-style game with porn. :)
>>
>>7020586
That amazon dungeon thing is a real ball breaker, I'm pretty much certain my work will go straight there once I upload it just of the keyword filter.
>>
>>7020604
It seems to me that it would be more prudent to upload it with a comparatively bland cover, just to be safe.

>>7020466
Couple of minor grammatical errors here and there, but otherwise this seems like it has some potential. As it is though, it feels like it's got too much in the way of exposition to really stand on its own.

Of course, the easiest way to fix that is to just continue the story.

A succubus outbreak in the style of a zombie outbreak.

Succubized women become nudist nymphomaniacs with horns, wings and tails. They feed on sexual fluids from men and/or from other succubi; their preference is based on their sexual orientation at the time of succubization.

Infection is by contact with succubus fluids. Women are succubized, men and children brainwashed into mindless servants. Friendly succubi like to grab and kiss people; sneaky ones may leave drool or cum where people live; mean ones will tie/chain people up and use whatever sadistic ways come to mind.

Can't believe how much Literotica sucks.
You post your shit on StoriesOnline it takes them about 15 minutes to approve, and they let you put a link to your Patreon at the end of your text.
FA let's you post instantly and has special links for Patreon on the profile page.
Literotica took five days to review my stories then rejected them because they have a Patreon link at the end, and the only place they'll let you put a link is in your profile where nobody will see it.
Do you guys use that site? Is the traffic worth putting up with their absurd restrictions?

Thank you all for reading, and a very big thanks to whatever Anon. suggested this idea. I hope it lived up to your expectations.

Someone in the last thread was asking about a follow-up to The Player Witch Augment.

I think it's clear the only thing I need to make a sequel to something is to find a way to make the title a pun. Would anyone be interested? Anyone have a suggestion on where it should go, so I don't add gangsters and pirates to it like a moron?

I took one look at it and figured that here, Pastebin, and Google Docs are the only places worth it. Sure, nobody will find your fics without you directing anyone to it, but I'm not interested in Patreon and I'd rather not jump through hoops to appease them when I have all of you guys.

I mostly post my stuff on my own website. It is a bit more personal than Pastebin and easier to index than Google Docs. Yeah, it requires a bit of maintenance but you can easily run Wordpress. It does have that "money" cost, but I consider it worth it to have a tiny bit of branding.

Depends how short short is. I'd probably say not to bother though. They're mostly useful for navigation, especially in things you might read over several days, though as >>7021916 says they can be useful even in short works if it's going to be an ebook.

>>7021621
Looking good
Minor nitpick, for
>We believe he is in cohorts with XCOM
I think you meant "in cahoots", as in to collude or conspire with, to have clandestine involvement. A cohort is just an ordered group of people, usually a military detachment but often used to refer to an intake of students for an academic institution as well, and "in cohorts with" isn't a valid construction for the same reason you can't be "in parties with the Democrats/Republicans/whatever" in politics, you are just in the party or a member of the party.

>>7021935
Yeah I'm really just writing quick read porn scenes but the prestory is spread out over some time.

>>
>>7021940
Your best bet is either to use a section break, a "five years later", or a chapter. I used to use sections for those but with Apple requiring ebooks to have at least two TOC entries, I hate that Smashwords did the "middle of the book" entry so I switched sections to chapters. That way, there was always at least one TOC entry for the middle that I controlled instead of randomly inserted.

It also fits my story workflow. :)

If you want it as a single document, either go with section break or a "five years later".
>>
>>7021920
Ah, thanks for catching that, I'll correct it.

>>7021933
I tend not to chapter them until they get to around 15k words, and then I generally separate them into chapters of like 4-6k unless there's a long sex scene, I like to keep those as one chapter so people can easily find the smut in the chapter index.

Damn, how is she getting him out? Thin men and vipers seem to be pretty high in the power structure, but I'm not sure they're allowed to unilaterally adopt pets from the holding cells and there's no way ADVENT don't have cameras on the streets.

Was the interrogators' reference to genetic material going into the vipers an allusion to the autopsy reports saying they're pretty much straight aliens and implying that it'd be used for minor augmentation of an individual, or are you doing your own canon and making the vipers genetic chimerae?

Please, they only do that with the spares, dregs, and threats. Main focus is on turning us into premium bodies.

I guess it's sort of like a mediocre mass market car manufacturer staging a hostile takeover of an underfunded supercar outfit because their own engineering base is garbage, or something.

Also humans are high protein/low fat, so we're clearly better for building muscle mass. If anything, too much soylent green would risk shrinking of the snektits.

Spoilers for XCOM 2.
Isn't ADVENT actually trying to upgrade both of our races to deal with something way worse than them? >>
>>7022281
>Love and Coexistence can absolutely bloom once the Elders are taken care of
that XCOM fic about a viper living with a human girlfriend seemed interesting. Xrays born/hatched/whatever after the "liberation" who grew up integrated into the new society and believing the propaganda could be fun. It's surreal to imagine a civilian sectoid or muton earnestly trying to protect their human roommate when a terrorist attack takes place outside, plus there's the obvious emotional turmoil if they discover what's really going on and it then crashes straight into their pride for what they thought they had done to help humanity.
>>
>>7022281
>Isn't ADVENT actually trying to upgrade both of our races to deal with something way worse than them?

Yes, or at least that's what they claim, but given the rest of their client races are mind controlled slaves, many of them cloned and all of them genetically manipulated, what they consider an 'upgrade' is by no means good for us. If XCOM fails, you're far more likely to see humanity processed into Avatar bodies for the Ethereals, and ADVENT grunts. Baseline, free-willed humans would probably cease to exist.
>>
>>7022496
Vipers at least are ostensibly unaltered, and the other races it mostly seems to be physical or psychic enhancements. It seems like control via indoctrination is their style rather than destroying free will. I guess it makes sense since anything that could seriously impact free will would tend to cripple flexibility, which would make for ineffective soldiers.

So, regular jackbooted totalitarian society rather than mindslave totalitarian society, so that's clearly okay.
>>
>>7022506
The final mission mentions that alien units across the world are starting to go crazy, either laying down their weapons or turning on each other as the Ethereal's psychic network breaks down. I'd say that's a pretty strong indication that their methods of control over-ride the individual's natural instincts.

Honestly, IMO if people want to write a broadly-canon human/alien fic set in XCOM2's universe, it'd make more sense to write on set after XCOM has reclaimed control of the planet. You'd be left with thousands of Vipers, Sectoids, Mutons etc that have been freed from the Ethereal's control and don't have any option but to integrate into our society.

I have a literotica account and the views you get can be pretty obscene.

Take my one story Ravaged by the Roadside.

It's been on hentai factory for at least 2 months maybe more, just under 800 views.

Meanwhile on Literotica, it hasn't even been 24 hours and it's has over 1k views and even more votes. Sure it's like 6 but that's double what HA has netted.

I am not trying to make revenue off this so I don't give a single shit about posting my tip jar but I do like getting my work getting exposure.

Another suggestion I would throw at you is sexstories.com. It takes stupid amounts of time for your work to get published there but the traffic is comparible to literotica and you might be able to post your links inside your work.

Your choice.

Snek also posts his progress in small blocks. So he is padding out his releases to make seem all the more active..
That's my defense.

We accept everything. Post it, you don't know how popular it'll be if you never show it to us. Besides, the whole point of the thread is to share fapfics.
>>
>>7022874
I'm still here. I'm writing a sequel to that cock growth story I did the other day. It probably won't be done until tomorrow.

Since I'm here. For a sequel, should I post it in the same Pastebin file, or make them separate files? I put them all in the same file with the Croc story, but I don't know if everyone was reading them or not.
>>
>>7022891
Separate ones, if it's separate fics.
>>
>>7022887
Alright I'll keep polishing it.
It's such a small series of one shots following the trail of a terrible pokemon trainer with big tits who loses gym battles but puts out for the badge, eventually becoming league champion without ever winning a single battle.
>>
>>7022897
Well, it's an immediate follow-up, so I don't know if it IS a separate fic. It takes place on the same day as the first entry.
>>
>>7022914
If you consider them to be separate fics, then you should make them different files anyway. Plus, it's better for organization.
>>
I've never posted to this thread before, but I have a few stories to share.

I've done some writefagging in the past, but I've always posted my work directly to 4chan or as expiring anonymous pastebins. Lately I've been polishing up my old stories, so hopefully it's alright if I post them here as I finish.

>>
>>7023723
It's fine. Convoluted narrative, etc.

But in all seriousness, no need to advertise every little update. I've found that posting them too frequently makes people less likely to read your stuff than they would be normally.

On a somewhat unrelated note, can we keep the namefaggotry down a little bit? There's no need to use names or tripcodes when not posting new content, or at least that's what I feel. We don't want to give the impression that we're just a circlejerk centered around two or three people, that makes us all look bad.
>>
You know, since we moved onto /d/ I've realized we've moved too far beyond /tg/ subjects for it to really fit on 1d4chan anymore. And I'll be honest with you- it's growing increasingly difficult for me to keep up with everything posted. So I've taken the liberty to port the master list onto a google doc so anyone can edit it from now on.

I'll still be here to make sure as little as possible falls through the cracks, but hopefully that won't be needed as much anymore. So without further ado, here's the definitive, editable-by-anyone, master list.

So, I've been writing a BDSM thing that I'd like to sell, and this seems like a thread to ask about how viable my stories actually are. I'm worried about finding an audience.

My stories run Master/slave fetishism side by side with a main plot that's about, like, paranormal investigations and shit. The fetishism ties into themes of the story since stuff tends to be about power relations, and the relationships between the slave characters (my main characters) are often defined in terms of how they react to having been enslaved. Between the characters spending a lot of time talking or arguing (sometimes indirectly) about slavery and the scenes where they investigate sinister demon cults whose only relation to fetish is that one of the characters feels really guilty about accidentally giving them a demon army, I've got a porn:plot ratio that favors plot pretty heavily. Plus, a lot of my porn scenes don't involve actual fucking, just naked girls being tied up and/or whipped. Is there even an audience for this (outside of the ~20 people who read my alpha drafts for free)?

Given the popularity of fantasy and sci-fi novels with thinly veiled BDSM themes (societies where women/men are enslaved, or where a certain class of people are gagged all the time because they have magic voices that give them power over others and the people of this class we meet happen to be overwhelmingly female, or whatever) I'm hoping that there's a market for a science fantasy story that's open and explicit about the BDSM but I don't know how to actually find out if that market exists or how big it is.

"Start with a Sister at mass, hearing how the marines are descended from the Emperor (he made the Primarchs from his flesh, and the marines from Primarch flesh), then her growing lust would come from her seeing more and more of the Emperor in them.

From starting to notice how hot the Space Marines she works with are, to trying to sneak a peak in the showers, to not wearing underwear and hoping they notice, etc."

Speaking of which, here's something I wrote a year ago. Haven't posted it anywhere before. Skimmed through it to make sure it didn't have too many problems.

Haven't used pastebin before, so hope I did it right. If there's interest, I'll post more later on. This is just a fifth or so of what I've written of it.

So I'm into a few things that are kind of hard to specifically search for, would anyone happen to know of any stories that feature this kind of stuff?

Mostly I'm after stories that put a fairly in-depth focus on the sensations of a monstrous partner's skin/fur/scales, the warmth of their body, and the feeling of being squeezed/held, rather than the motions of the sex itself - ideally with a far larger male, and involving some biting/mouthing or gentle choking, but those are optional. The idea of being comforted by something so far outside the realm of 'normal', and slowly growing dependant on it to complete that side of me, is incredibly enticing to me, but there isn't exactly a tag to search for that I know of.
>>

You'll find most of those in my stories to an extent, those elements are all there, except that the characters are female, so I don't know if that's a dealbreaker for you.
I have lots of biting and mouthing in all my stories going into a lot of detail in the Pinwheel stuff, descriptions of scales in the Snek stuff, the warmth of the genitals, lots of light bondage, etc.

Bro the plot was good. I felt weird that the sex happened at the part of the story where they are escaping, because at that point I was heavily invested in what was gonna happen to the protagonist.
>>
>>7023804
So now that Vi is a rebel she's going to wear a beret, right?
If my understanding gleaned from TV dramas and video games involving the French resistance and/or South American revolutionaries is accurate, rebels have to wear them.
It probably needs to be a big beret, since vipers are huge as it is and she's big for a viper.

Slightly more seriously, shame she couldn't have deserted with her combat gear and one of those translator doohickeys from when she was billeted with the protagonist. They'd almost certainly have tracking devices in some of them though, and that stuff isn't much use locked inside a Faraday cage in the reverse engineering labs. XCOM can probably whip up a translator themselves anyway.

>You might like this one, it's a shorter story with less plot and it will give you an idea of what to expect in terms of sexual content:
Thanks, it's not quite what I was looking for, but sorta close.

If you wouldn't mind some critique on >>7021401, I spotted a few things from what I read of it (I only read a few paragraphs from about when he's caught by the viper, so, grain of salt and all that).
Two main things: your use of 'It/He (did X)' or 'It was Y' to start a lot of sentences was quite noticeable - not to the point of being grating, exactly, but it was getting there in my opinion - and there were quite a few sentences that would have been far better split up, instead of multiple not-quite-connected clauses pushed together. For example;
>She held the thick lips apart with her forefingers, clear juice oozed from the pink, fleshy interior, he blushed with the indignity of it, his face was an inch away from her.
Could've been broken into 2 or 3 sentences of their own, or restructured to fit into one sentence properly.

Some more minor opinions; the word 'organ' was an odd choice, especially when using it to describe multiple different organs, and the man's inner monologue was a bit bland and distracting for me. I would've liked to see some more internal actions (swallowing, heart beating faster, muscle spasms, etc) to supplement or replace his thoughts. Similarly, I would've liked it to linger longer on each aspect of the scenario as it came, rather than pushing on to a new movement after couple sentences.

Again, biased and uneducated opinions, and thank you again for suggesting the story.

Wow, and I thought I was a little romantic in my story about a sea creature chimera.

That was pretty good. I was alarmed by the use of the word 'cunt' partway through the sex scene in such an otherwise florid narrative. But it seemed like the vulgarity picked up as the enthusiasm did, so I guess that makes sense. (I don't find that word sexy, except maybe in the context of a woman being so turned on as to refer to it as such to be dirty.)

The sex scenes are very nicely detailed as well. I wondered if the climax would involve some sort of roe production, but that's the stupid crap I come up with. And what happens to the guy at the end... it went on a little long, and I was saying 'yeah, I got it' to myself, until another sex scene started, and I was back in it. It felt like it might end on that revelation, but you were going someone I wasn't expecting.

If you have the time, I wonder what you would make of my sea monster love story posted above.

Yep. For better or worse, moving to /d/ has pretty much killed the original /tg/ community. Some like Belgianon used to post stuff here, but received very little attention and subsequently vanished. And quite a few people didn't bother moving to /d/ at all. When was the last time you saw something by CB, for example? I'll occasionally post something, but while on /tg/ I used to get a lot of ideas and inspiration from the threads, these days they're a wasteland unless you're into femdom or monstergirls.

Rather than complain about the lack of /tg/ related content, why not produce the content you want to see?

>>
>>7024592
I do, when I feel the urge to write. I posted two fics back in June. But given the way the community has shifted, I don't draw much inspiration from the threads any more, and have doubts as to how many people would be interested these days.

I've also started running a Changeling game for one of my RPG groups, the prepwork for which is eating up a lot of my time.

DLFG posted several stories a month or so back, Smutomancer did one, and Monster posted a story not more than two threads ago (and got very little feedback, btw).

Well, what content exactly do you want to see?
I'll be the first to admit I'm no expert on /tg/ settings but I probably have enough passing knowledge of 40k to write something for you.

That was almost three months ago. When you compare with the height on /tg/ where multiple people delivered such stories on a (bi-)weekly basis.

And here you hit the second problem straight on the head. Stories get posted to apathetic indifference.

It's less a problem of content than a problem of community. I'd never thought I'd post this, but I'd take the trolling on /tg/ any day over this toxic drudgefest of "how to publish?", "How to make money?" and namefag e-cocksucking that simply does not motivate to write in the slightest and actively drive people away. At least back there, there was an active exchange over the week-end in-between the rageposts and trolls, and more than one drawing/fic got made over something discussed in the thread or as reaction to what one of the artists drew in the flockmod.

Here there's just not a single shred of that! Even the Discord chat, which was supposed to help with that, didn't end up as a place to bounce ideas off and generate motivation; but as a place to shitpost/dump the occasional drawing that doesn't even make it here anymore.

I'm trying to throw you a bone man, but you're not on /tg/, you're on /d/, I'm sorry your general got banned but that isn't our fault and getting angry at us for producing content relevant to the board that people enjoy isn't going to bring it back.

If you won't make the content you want to see, and you reject my offers to help you make it, then where is it going to come from?

I've only been posting for a few weeks but I've found an active, friendly community that has helped me improve my writing enormously through encouragement and constructive feedback.
I don't presume to speak for everyone, but when you call that community a "toxic drudgefest" the only advice I can give you is to find a community that better caters to your tastes.

I don't know what I can do to help you.
>>
>>7024703
Yeah /tg/ fag here, I think most people didn't even know about the move.
I for one prefer the new threads, old wst produced a lot more content but it was all "love can bloom" shit with no substance.
>>
>>7024710
You still don't get it, it seems!

>If you won't make the content you want to see

I am still producing it. I simply have no motivation whatsoever to actually post it here where it just gets ignored. Not even shot down in flames or raged at; ignored.

> find a community that better caters to your tastes

Oh, the irony! Where did I ever hear that one before?

>>7024712
>it was all "love can bloom" shit with no substance.

Try better bait, please.
>>
>>7024718
>Where did I ever hear that one before?

Perhaps if that's something you keep hearing, the problem isn't the communities, but your unwillingness to participate in them?

Again, I don't know what I can do to help you, I've offered to make content for you and you snubbed me, I'd be more than willing to read content that you post but you say you won't.
>>
>>7024710
>If you won't make the content you want to see, and you reject my offers to help you make it, then where is it going to come from?

I didn't want to put my trip on for this, because I try to stay anonymous unless I'm posting something or providing feedback these days, but since I started this conversation with >>7024560 this post (though not all of the posts relating to it are mine), I might as well own up to it.

The core issue is this; the thread dynamic has changed, and it isn't going to change back. It isn't an issue of whether or not individual fics regarding specific fetishes are or aren't being written, but the attitude which inspired many of us in the first place has evaporated. I feel very little urge to write because I don't think the audience is there any more.

To be clear; while it's personally disappointing, objectively it's neither a good thing or a bad thing. People come and go, communities change, shit happens. The threads are just servicing other people now. But it rankles when I see people trying to claim that nothing's changed, that the old /tg/ crowd still regularly contributes, and so on and so forth, because it's misinformed at best and an outright lie at worst.
>>
>>7024721
>Perhaps if that's something you keep hearing, the problem isn't the communities, but your unwillingness to participate in them?

That's what trolls told us on /tg/ so hard and repeatedly they got us banned, Jesus...
>>
>>7024722
I guess I'll just drop it and get back to work, but I feel like there's a lot of misplaced anger directed at the people who are enjoying the threads and the content.

I've never been on /tg/ and I have no idea what the general was like, how much content was produced, how active people were or what the community was like.

I'm just trying to make stuff that /d/ enjoys.
>>
>>7024726
Like I said, I'm not angry, though a couple of the other people commenting on the issue certainly are. Disappointed maybe, but not angry, and I'm sorry if I gave anyone that impression. I just don't like to see people shoving their fingers in their ears and pretending things haven't changed. Those of us who contributed in the past might as well accept that they have and deal with that accordingly.
>>
>>7024726
Then keep at it.

Just understand than when people who actually got this whole thing underway, got punished and kicked away for it, did their best to restart and keep it going in another place and then find themselves no longer welcome in the thing they started; it's goddamn normal they get angry at people pretending everything is still the same and all right and they're the problem.
>>
>>7024733
The /d/ mods also carry a lot of the blame too. Them deleting threads or images for whatever reasons didn't help. Only got worse when /aco/ was made too.

>>
>>7024750
>every second story was a 1-2k opposites attract

It really wasn't. There was certainly quite a bit of it kicking around, but it wasn't anywhere near that prevailent. We had a far wider range of content in the older threads - nowadays you've got lots of monstergirl/soft femdom stuff on one side and some of the more extreme /d/ content on the other without much in between.
>>
>>7024756
It really was that prevelant, if I'm being honest it was more than half the content produced.
Some people have moved beyond that, long running serials have replaced sex scenes with a brief physical description before hand.
>>

Hell, worldbuilding was one of the major discussions taking place in the threads.

/tg/ had a very narrow yet concentrated content focus and a far higher board population as a whole.

Funny, that. You're the only person making this claim, you have the means of proving yourself right - if it's 'no secret' it shouldn't be any great chore - and yet you suddenly retreat from the opportunity to do so. Try and make your shitposting a little less transparent in the future, thanks.

Breaking my anonymity for now as well. I've been here since day one of the old /wst/, and went through the entirety of its history up until now. But at this point even I don't know how much longer I can be here.

Above all, nobody wanted to profit from their smut. They just posted it. All this talk about patreons and publishing combined with the circlejerking over some writers at the expense of everyone else makes it seem like the only reason you write is for greed and personal recognition. That's nothing like what we wanted.

Above all else, I was impressed by the chemistry between Yves and Simone- their songs really helped drive home the connection. The smut itself was vivid and detailed, and melded together nicely with the basic narrative of a man being reunited with the lover he thought was dead. The way you described Simone's naiad form was equally appealing. Most works only depict sea nymphs as being blue humans, so it was a welcome change from the norm.

>acknowledge the work of others and leave actual feedback

I've left plenty of feedback, assuming the content was something that aligned with my interests. I enjoyed the Croc series enormously even if it was mainly for the humor, Ravaged by the Roadside was great, I loved some of the ideas from the Sophie slime story that was posted recently and I left feedback for that, though regrettably I forgot the name. It's all in the archived threads if you want to go back and see.

>the only reason you write is for greed and personal recognition

Are you saying I shouldn't enjoy getting positive feedback and encouragement? Because I do, it makes my day when someone says they loved my story. This might be the only thing I've ever been good at.

Excuse me while I swim like Scrooge McDuck in my nine bucks of Patreon money. If people want to drop some money in the tip jar because they appreciate the content I'm producing, I'm not going to refuse. There are no paywalls on my Patreon, I don't do paid requests, all the Ebooks are free for anyone to download and have no DRM, every story I've ever written is on Pastebin.

There are real published authors in these threads, people who have been writing for years, were they wrong to turn their hobby into an income?

>This is /efg/, not Snekguy Appreciation Station

I feel like this is increasingly about me, and if you dislike me so much simply because I post frequently, then at your request I will use a tripcode and you can filter me, you'll never have to see me again.

This is the last I'm going to say about it, I'm here because I enjoy writing, and some people enjoy reading it, that's 300 words right there that could have gone into a story.

I don't want drama I want to write, I'm certainly not going to be reprimanded for doing that "too much".

I'll admit, you've been great about both feedback and technical help, and your writing is of excellent quality. It's just that when all this started, even the idea of "professional" smut was laughable. It was something we did for its own sake. To me and some others here, the idea of profiting from smut simply feels unnatural.

I don't dislike you or your work at all. It's just that for lack of a better way of describing it, it makes old guard like myself feel like we're no longer needed or wanted. And I'll be honest here- I'm a little jealous of you for getting so much more feedback while others languish without even an "I liked it" post. I sincerely want you to keep writing, and I want others to follow your example in giving feedback.

If that was the case, I wouldn't be complaining as I am now.

>To me and some others here, the idea of profiting from smut simply feels unnatural
That's because people don't profit from their work on /tg/, /d/ has always had a healthy collection of artists producing work at a professional level.
Stop trying erase our boards culture with your colonialism.
>>
>>7024968
You can always switch between character's PoV if you think things are running too long.

This being said, lengthy 'monologues' where you contrast what the character feels with what happens are a good way to write too. First person writing is all about that.
>>
>>7024968
We had our own culture too, and in a way this is bringing back some of our old fears that /d/ culture would erase it.

I don't want to erase this board's culture, and I apologize if that's what it comes off as. I'd just prefer not to assimilate entirely and lose the culture we came here to preserve in the first place. Surely there's a middle ground we can reach, right?

And for the record, I've always used third person omniscient view in writing so I can't say I've had the problem you're describing myself.

If you don't want to discuss for profit writing and want more feedback you can do so by filtering the term patreon and providing critique on every piece of work posted..
>>
>>7024968
What I like to do if there's a drawn out scene with lots of dialogue (assuming I understand and that's what you're asking), is write the dialogue, get all the exposition out, and then go back and add details to break it up.

Say two characters are having a conversation, give them some imaginary mannerisms or tics, maybe one smokes and he lights up between lines of dialogue, maybe one shifts because his chair is uncomfortable, maybe it's cold and one character is rubbing his hands together and blowing warm breath on them.

Imagine you were watching a conversation from a distance, people lean on things, scuff their shoes, cross their arms, there are all kinds of mannerisms you can insert after the fact.
Stuff like that breaks up the massive blocks of exposition and makes it feel more organic.

>>7024966
Honestly dude I'll read anything you want to post, and give you all the feedback I can think of, but if you don't post the content nobody can read it.
>>
>>7024983
Caught a few spelling mistakes there.

I like your writing style, it reminds me of the inner monologue from Styx: Master of Shadows, don't know if you've played that game.

I think using breaks to separate the monologue might help with readability, I've only recently learned how to do that myself.

Here's my take on it.

>As Snekguy mentioned, readability is the main issue that jumps out at me. Most notably, the sentence at the end of line 5 just stops partway through.
>There are a few points where a comma would be appropriate (e.g. line 11 after "on raised heels", line 12 after "sure enough", and line 3 after "itself".
>Similarly, some parts could be better served with a period rather than a comma, like on line 10 after "body".
>Otherwise, you do a fine job of setting the scene and showing off the more unsavory parts of Hiro's personality. While I feel like I don't entirely understand the plot, I assume that's because it's an excerpt from a longer work.

Overall, it could use a little polish but otherwise has a good deal of potential. Just watch for those run-on sentences.

On the one hand, we did have plenty of vanilla stuff. On the other hand, we also had things like

>Space Marines drowning a girl in their piss
>Three different fics involving sex with giant spiders
>Everything by Xiombarg's Storyteller, including one fic with a fetish (erotic botfly removal) that at the time it was made even /d/ considered to be too extreme for its tastes. (Sadly, I don't have the screenshot of its reaction right now. It was hilarious.)
>A high elf (from Warhammer Fantasy) being literally fucked to death by a Cold One (a creature best described as an 8-foot long dinosaur)

The migration was a while back, as a matter of fact. It's been what, nearly a year now since it happened?

I for one want to have both thr /d/ culture and the /tg/-in-exile culture coexist with one another, but the loss of the old guard over time is getting the remaining ones (myself included to some degree) on edge for fear that the latter will die off and leave them once again looking for another place to call their own. It doesn't help that I don't care much for the common /d/ fetishes and can't shake the feeling that their absence would mean nobody would care about my work in their absence.

Even back there it was still common to repost links to relatively new fics, although the same fics weren't posted in the thread after the first week they were made- it gave the impression the author was being overly needy, as I personally discovered.

>>7025094
It isn't new, that's the thing. The "newest" one was made months ago, that's why I'd rather use the list than pass off an old thing as new.

As for the WIP, after posting WIPs several threads in a row in the past only to make myself look overly needy I've been rather shy about doing it here. Chalk it up to old habits I learned back in the day. But if it's really okay, I can do it next thread when everyone's calmed down a bit, including myself.

>>7025099
It's also why I made it into a Google doc. I always worried that I was the only one doing much adding of fics into the list and feared what would happen if I couldn't do it for whatever reason, and given the wider variety of subjects since we left /tg/ it didn't feel quite right to keep it on 1d4chan exclusively. This way, anyone can add to it, no questions asked. Ultimately, it helps everyone.
>>
>>7025094
Depends on what exactly you write, but posting only finished stories/chapters worked pretty well so far.
>>
>>7025071
I feel like that was one of our worst moments. Someone worked up the courage to ask for something he wanted despite knowing it would likely be negatively received (which can be difficult even in an anonymous environment), and we mocked the poor guy for YEARS. Still do.
Yes, XS eventually wrote the story, but the OR more than likely never came back after that.
And that's not to say I think he had some sort of right to get his request done, but the mocking was just wrong.

Just resposting some assorted human/monstergirl or monsterfuta ideas I brought up on the last thread. Trying to muster the will to write them and it'd help if I knew if people were interested in a particular one.

#1: Scenes from the lives of Ezekiel and Draahzin; a trappy wizard and his pregnant kobold boifriend. Human/kobold

#2: A father-to-be dotes on his girlfriend, a hugely pregnant sphinx. Human/sphinx

#3: A goblin "captures" (rescues) a trappy failed adventurer and tries to make him into her broodmare. Things... don't quite work out as she planned. Human/Goblin

#4: The clone-son of a witch-queen is politically arranged to marry two horde-queens to cement alliances. Can love bloom under such a condition? Human/Orc/Gnoll

#5: Only survivors after their dungeon lair is invaded and their tribes are wiped out, a human necromancer and his "diplomatic envoys" become adventurers, and ultimately lovers. Human/Goblin/Kobold/Ratfolk

#6: The first time they got drunk and woke up in bed together was surely an accident. The second time, well, they brushed that off too. The third time? That was too suspicious to let go. Human/Minotaur

#7: When her human gish companion is hurt on a mission, a githzerai zerth is finally compelled to confess her feelings to the formerly oblivious soul. Human/Githzerai

#8: When an independent duergar smith buys a drow pleasure-slave to help her get through her heats, neither of them expected to fall in love. Duergar/Drow

They're controlled remotely by the "Psyonic Network". Troopers receive orders from officers, officers get orders from those above them and so on up the alien hierarchy.
If you kill an officer surrounded by troopers, the troopers won't stop fighting you but they'll lose some tactical support and finer abilities.

>do you have any suggestions?
Well, for the 'He' problem - keep in mind I'm not a good writer by any stretch - I'd say to either just start the sentence with an action instead of the character perceiving or performing the action, if that makes sense, or to (sparsely) use epithets or proper nouns.

>She gripped his hair painfully, and the tip of her tail wriggled down his body, seeking out his groin.
Could become
>The chubby viper gripped his hair painfully, and the tip of her tail wriggled down his body, seeking out his groin.
or possibly
>Hard claws wound painfully tight through Moreau's hair as the tip of her tail wriggled down his body, seeking out his groin.

>He felt the tip of her agile tail press forcefully into his member just below the head, and it began to rub his sweet spot rhythmically
Could become
>The tip of her agile tail pressed forcefully into his member, just below the head, and began to rub his sweet spot rhythmically
or
>Smooth scales coiled firmly around his member, just below the head, and the agile tip began to rub his sweet spot rhythmically

I dunno. You'd need someone who knows what they're talking about to properly 'fix' the problem, but the best I can offer is that you chop up your sentences and rearrange them until they flow better, or just cut out bits that stifle said flow.

So I'm trying to decide which of my partially written stories I should finish next. I'll get to both eventually, but I wanted to see what there was more interest in first.

A) Set in the same world as >>7023987
A gender-bender story about a feminine guy with breasts and a ridiculously huge cock that gets hit on by his boss because she thinks he's a futa. Hyper-sized funtimes ensue.

B) Monstergirl story set in a slightly more magical version of our world. A man gets stuck living with a clingy female elemental who's slowly becoming obsessed with him.
>>
>>7025009
It's well worth going through the master smut index on 1d4chan and CTRL+Fing for tags you might be interested in/scrolling down to see if something grabs you. Given the disjoint in communities following the board change, posting a link with some review comments might help to spark interest in other ideas.
Plus scavenging plot devices, themes and character traits is of course a well-respected and essential aspect of high-level writing.

>>7025104
At the risk of ressurecting the nerdy whining, I also want to see a coexistence of the /tg/ and /d/ mindsets. I will add that it took a little while to find this after the move since I'd been visiting /wst/ less due to being busy at the time of the move, and since then I've been more tentative about posting criticism or just drifting off on worldbuilding/idea tangents since /d/ tends to be more anal about how board related the discussion is getting.
I've started trying to give some more feedback recently; although I'm still pretty busy the lack of response like that has felt like the biggest absence here. As for avoiding posting too often, posting updates every 2-4000 words seems reasonable, and I wouldn't mind seeing stuff from the old guard in an unfinished state to see if we can't get the diversity of content up a little more.
>>

You can describe it more detail("show don't tell"). Like "their mouths pressed together sloppily" if its two people doing it, "he/she pressed his/her mouth on XYZ and massaged it with his/her lips". Well I wouldn't want to put someone in a situation where they had to read through like 30k words of my shit and correct it all.

>>
>>7026952
30k isn't too bad, and I personally kind of like the tedium of it.
And getting an outside critical opinion is always a vital aspect of growth, which you can't really count on in this thread. If you rely solely on yourself to police your work then some things will always slip through the cracks, no matter what. Working on something creative like that makes you think a certain way, and missing what would otherwise be an obvious mistake is very easy to do when you've been looking at the same piece for hours on end.
>>
>>7026960
That's true, sometimes I'll look over a section two or even three times and a typo will still get through.
Then I'll see it in the published story and I'll be like "Fuck how did that get past?"
I do kind of want to let my friend do the editing, but when I told him I'm writing porn, he probably expects "Ma'am I'm here to repair your plumbing" not "help this giant alien is raping me".

Hmm, I hadn't actually thought about sex for that one, but I think maybe it could work. Any particular preferences/requests, or do you just want to see what I do?

>>7025242
Any other interest in any of these?
>>
>>7026965
4 through 7 all sound like they could be taken in interesting directions; 4 has obvious space for high society type shenanigans, bickering minions especially when they're suddenly bumped up in effective rank as per 5 are always fun. 6 and 7 are more conventional premises, but they're strong emotional storytelling fodder; they're common for good reason. Plus big women with horns are kickass.

1 is too open ended really to have much opinion of it ahead of time; 3 and 8 are both Falling In Love With Your Slave stories, and rely a lot on the details of the personalities for interest.

2 and a story revolving around domesticity with a supernatural creature does sound terribly cute though.
>>
>>7026965
Well, for a significant proportion of women the hormones during pregnancy boost libido a ton, which could be a theme to play with beyond the obvious approach of sifting through preg hentai doujins and the like and the whole tits getting bigger thing.

Really though do what you think you can make work/makes for the most engaging story.
>>
>>7026857
Yes, it does. And a bunch of other stuff mostly focusing on characters that don't usually get attention here, especially cartoon characters (for obvious reasons).
>>
>>7026310
Excellent finish.
All I could really ask for is an epilogue of the transcripts of their interview/interrogations, with protagonist-kun awkwardly skirting around the sordid details in his while Vi rapidly sidetracks into gushing about her boyfriend and their exploits due to a total lack of understanding human social niceties. Bonus points if she starts giving her interrogator wildly inappropriate/illegal (and possibly physically impossible for a human) advice on how to snag herself a man.

On a technical note, your writing is tightening with practice but you still need to keep an eye out for run-on sentences; it can make things read a little breathlessly. Sorry I can't give more detailed feedback on that front but it's stupid o'clock here right now.

Nope. There certainly ARE serfs who were aspirants that didn't make the cut, but the majority are descendants of earlier serfs or just regular humans.
>>
>>7027087
Never got the impression it was anything other than predominantly monogendered, since they still form a component of a military unit; though they do raise families in the fortress monasteries. I'd need to go digging through some of the Deathwatch material to get a better picture though.

Some trials wouldn't have survivors to take back, or failed aspirants fill another task (Blood Angels leave them to guard the site of the challenge, for instance, while failing the other trials back in the fortress monastary usually mean you died).

>>7027098
I guess they could be mostly dudes, but girls can also use weapons, so I don't see why they'd deny themselves a healthy pool of serfs to keep making more and more serfs (within reason).

>>7027087
Basically this. Marines can also just nab people they approve of to come be a serf. Serfs are better educated and trained than typical Imperium soldiers (or at least as well as a guardsman, though I don't know why they wouldn't train them more...).

i seriously don't mind anyone asking me about my ~totally not canon but probably possible~ serf stuff or shining doubts on it, it's purely indulgence/a side to space marines i see rarely explored and enjoyed. though this latex bondage serf is probably my least canon-esque.
>>
>>7027181

Latex cat suits are so canon and in-theme for the setting aesthetic if anyone complained they should be laughed out of the room.

Maybe modern sterilized GW designs, but anything from 4th and earlier looks like Blanche and BROM jizzed all over the setting.
>>
>>7027181
Latex? pretty much the whole Assassinatorum uses latex.
>>
>>7027192

Even outside of that corsets and space latex are very common motifs. Its probably hard to see past all of the Space Marines and Mechanicus spammed everywhere.
>>
>>7027193
The near universal misuse of corsets in fiction really triggers my autism. It's underwear, ffs.
>>
I always imagined that failed aspirants would be used for the more 'hands-on' serf duties like crewing astartes ships and helping operate their vehicles, as well as serving as the defensive troops when chapter property is being attacked.

Meanwhile all the 'soft' serfs who do the actual servant shit like cleaning armour and mopping the fortress-monastery would be generational serf families (along with a slow influx of outside civilians worthy of serfdom).
>>
>>7027136

Yeah I know what you mean. Snek has me thinking about writing about a large monster girl with a human lover story as well.

Just need to keep those urges tempered, until my other storys' are more fleshed out.
>>
>>7027215
We need more large monstergirl that's not femdom. That or femdom but after the tables are turned. Something about the girl being physically superior yet sexually submissive is the best.
>>
>>7027263
Less femdom in general would be appreciated. We've had a glut of it as of late, and sometimes it has the unwanted effect of making the male character look spineless and unlikeable.

Better still would be stuff that simply ignores the whole dominant/submissive divide outright. It's too often that character's personalities are boiled down to which role they take during sex, and it drags down the quality of the story with it.
>>
>>7027263
>>7027281
And now I remember: It's gap moe. Sick of a character's personality being boiled down to which role it takes during sex? Reverse it.
>>
>>7027313
Going from one extreme to its opposite extreme is hardly a solution, you know. IMO, most works just take the whole dominance angle far too seriously.
>>
>>7027321
>>7027313

What the hell do you do about someone who switches and experiments and has an otherwise healthy sex life with their friends/partners/lover/spouse?
>>
>>7027213

That\s how I see and understand it. Deathwatch books imply serfs can be from multiple walks of life and fulfill many, many roles. They have Follower stats for them and its literally 'build a bear' with what you want them to preform. They're basically a blank template that start with 30 in every stat, which is 5 higher than the 'normies' from Dark Heresy, Rogue Trader, and I believe Only War as well. So that's saying something as to the baseline quality of chapter serfs.
>>
>>7027347
That's called "being normal". Nobody is purely dominant or purely submissive.
>>
>>7027365

Are you saying I am the normie, anon?

Okay, I'm making headway on the elemental story. I put up the first couple thousand words. Haven't got to the sex yet, but it'll be there eventually. Going with a bit of a non-traditional elemental girl here.

I couldn't figure out a great way to work all the necessary info into the text so I shamefully resorted to an exposition dump at the end of the section I was working on. Hopefully I'll figure out a way to revise it before I'm done.

Monster girls are popular and come with femdom as part of the cliche package, though that's a bit of a chicken-egg explanation.
>>
>>7027479
Well, that and that it helps us forget the fact that to get those women to fuck you, you actually have to take the initiative every now and then.

Me, I think it just simplifies plots to a stupid level by reducing both the male and female leads to relatively basic personality stereotypes. I know it's commonly associated with monstergirls, but there's no reason that the association needs to exist. You can just as easily have one and not the other.

Well she certainly will be a tough primal woman, I am thinking about designing her around maybe a bipedal otter because they are sleak and muscular.

Don't count on massive human tits making an appearance gonna go for the more realistic route here.

Their sex won't be about her being forcing her desires on him but it will more rise out of a mutual curiosity in one another. He will be a little awkward about it since I am making him a virgin. While she will be the more open one. But she only engages with sexually once she is certain he is interested in her that way.

I am on the fence about a language gap but it's probably gonna be a factor since I have the guy coming from modern earth through some kind of cheeky means of travel... maybe like a magic fucking bed because why the hell not.

So yeah she is big and adventurous but won't be using it to force herself on him sexually.

>>7027442
That is a really interesting idea, I've not seen that done before.

>>7027475
I think because femdom, and especially monstergirls, doesn't require you to really take any initiative or be confident. The formula for most of my stuff is pretty basic and can be broken down like, so:
>male is forced into situation with monstergirl
This means he doesn't have to walk up to her in a bar or meet her on a dating app.
>female likes him for reasons usually unrelated to his looks or charisma
He doesn't have to woo her, she already likes him, sometimes even for completely non-sexual reasons like feeding. An alien doesn't care if you're short or ugly or you smell funny, they have no basis for comparison.
>monstergirl initiates sex and takes the lead
Both a sexual element of the femdom, but also a way for people who aren't confident with women to imagine being in that situation.

To summarize, at least for me the fantasy is "Someone likes me and I don't have to do anything about it." Which is also a very common theme in romance aimed at women, where the plot sort of happens around them and they're along for the ride.
Though in my case I try to make my protagonists a bit more active and involved, size difference is good because then the MC can be a normal, fit human of average height and strength, and the femdom happens because of the overwhelming physical differences, not just because he's a wimp.

Not saying that's how everyone sees it, just me personally.

They're gonna get snow, someone designed a really cool planet for me based on the real star system I got the Borealis name from.
Like once a month for about a week, the planet moves 4 AU outside of the habitable zone, and everything freezes over. The only light source comes from the secondary binary star.
>>
>>7028114
For once a week? How fucking fast does it orbit? You do understand that this seems like some of the absolute worst conditions for life to evolve, right?
>>
>>7028117
not like life doesn't evolve and thrive on even worse conditions on Earth too
>>

But it started in much better conditions.
>>
>>7028121
This, hell worlds don't create master warrior races.
They're more likely to create a highly community oriented race, the same way frigid europe created white people.
>>
>>7028117
Well I think it's more interesting than just having the planet be Tatooine, and I have some plans for all the adaptations required to live there.

It's not a standard orbit, I think it's being tugged by the binary star, the guy did a lot of math that I don't have on hand.

Personally I am of the opinion that life is going to be absolutely everywhere in the universe, even in unlikely or inhospitable places. I don't think there will be a set of perfect conditions required.
>>
>>7028136
Life? Yes. Multi-cellular life? Not likely. That being the case, you always need the primordial soup to get things started.
>>
>>7028142
Well we've found life in places we had previously thought it would be impossible, like around toxic undersea vents, under extreme pressure in the challenger deep, and tardigrades have even survived prolonged exposure to vacuum and radiation.
Those are multi-cellular animals.

It's hard to argue because we won't know for sure until we start finding life in space, but the two positions basically boil down to "life is everywhere" and "life needs very specific conditions to arise".
Can't say either is right or wrong just yet, only more or less likely based on the evidence we have so far.

Considering that we keep finding life in places it shouldn't be, I lean towards the former.
>>
>>7028160
We find it where it shouldn't be, but it's clearly evolved from the same life that is everywhere else.
>>
>>7028165
He's pretty much set up their civilization like Egypt around the the Nile or like how Australia is a scorched hellhole everywhere but near the shore.
>>
>>7028132
To expand on that point, if you want a race of giant cat people you need sci-fi africa.
Verdant as fuck with enough food and combat to necessitate getting big and muscular, also probably low gravity.
>>
>>7028167
I've posted that link to how deserts form. While the sapient species might be evolved for deserts, their planet cannot be all desert. The only possibility for a desert planet is that they evolved from a species in an abandoned xenoforming project.
>>
>>7028165
We don't know for sure how life originated yet, there are competing theories.
But if simple unicellular life of the kind we evolved from can exist in such extreme environments, I don't think its unreasonable to assume they could originate there too.
For example in the oceans of Europa where the gravitational pull of Jupiter massages the crust creating heat that might allow life to arise under the ice layer in complete darkness, or on Titan where there are rivers of liquid methane and a greenhouse effect traps heat. Sci-fi is full of examples of extremophiles, like in Fleet of Worlds with the Gwo'oth or the Akrid from Lost Planet.

>>7028181
Well I was thinking they'd be evolved for the jungles that surround the water sources, which is why they're cat-like. Maybe their ancestors were like jaguars or tigers.

Ultimately this is all just an elaborate justification to fuck sexy catgirls, but by God we can make it stand up to moderate scrutiny.
>>
>>7027716
I know your formula pretty well, and you do a good enough job with it. I just can't quite shake the feeling that it ends up making both the male and female leads seem shallow and lacking in any deeper personality- making them have personalities that can be related to more easily or more obvious reasons for choosing what would appear to be an otherwise aggressively bland male lead would help a lot there if you ask me.

Plus, it'll be good for you to write outside your comfort zone. Even the best formulas can become stale eventually, and when that happens the only thing to do is to abandon that formula and try something new. I'm sure you'd be just fine at it if you only tried.
>>
>>7028282
I had to think about it for a few minutes but I think I see what you're saying.
So you think that the initial reason the characters get together is shallow? I do see where you're coming from, like it comes off as entirely sexually motivated? But on the other hand, at least in the stuff I've written so far, these characters wouldn't ever meet in different circumstances, and then the relationship kind of develops as they're forced to interact.
Do you think the characters themselves are shallow? I did try to give them arcs, like with the Snek MC going over to XCOM or Raz having to re-learn how to interact with people, but maybe I didn't do too good of a job. Some people complained Raz flipped too quickly, which I can see.
You have this idea of a fully developed character in your head, and sometimes it can be hard to convey that in writing, like you don't develop them enough so that other people see them the same way. I'm probably guilty of that.
>>
>>7028303
The character arcs are a decent attempt at fleshing them out, but in the cases you mentioned it simply makes no sense from the reader's perspective. At times, you have to let yourself forget your "behind the scenes" knowledge of the characters and look at them as if it's the first time you're reading about them yourself. It can be quite illuminating to see your characters as your readers do- the fact you know what makes them tick in a way that doesn't necessarily show in the text can sometimes skew your perceptions of them.

For your example, the Snek MC's XCOM recruitment was the only sign that he had much of a personality at all, and even that was triggered ultimately by a simple coincidence rather than any inclination in himself. In every other way, he just seemed to be completely average- average job, average house, average life in general. Totally unremarkable in every way, and barely deserving of being called a "character".

I think part of it is that the arcs you set up go too fast, so to speak. They change too quickly within a given span of time, and it comes off as unconvincing. It has to be slow, it has to be convincing, and above all it has to show off their personalities in a way that those personalities don't exist solely as part of a pairing.

(Continued next post)
>>
>>7028323
This is partly why I prefer third person writing- it allows multiple perspectives, allowing you to show off what the characters are like when they aren't interacting with each other. It gives them more life- helps them show they exist beyond their relation to each other, if that makes any sense.

Additionally, forcing characters together isn't enough to trigger those relationships. At best, they might remain neutral or simply friendly acquaintances, at worst they might grow to hate each other. There has to be some kind of connection in addition to circumstance to make those relationships seem like they're not motivated mostly if not entirely by sex. Ask yourself this question- even given their circumstances, why did their relationship develop as it did, and not some other way?
>>
>tfw you just want to quit your job and write smut all day
>>
>>7028324
Well the intention with the Snek MC was to have an ordinary person get involved in an extraordinary situation. I wanted his interactions with the guards in the second story and the inspector in the third to kind of push him out of his complacency and force him to confront what ADVENT really were, which in his routine of normalcy he was able to block out.

I have switched to writing in third person, and you're very correct, having different perspectives does definitely let you flesh out the characters more. Splashdown was my first foray into that and I hope I succeeded in making the switches of perspective feel natural. I'm trying to do that with Fineprint, too.

>you have to let yourself forget your "behind the scenes" knowledge of the characters

Yeah, I suspected that might be an issue, do you have any suggestions for achieving that?

>There has to be some kind of connection in addition to circumstance to make those relationships seem like they're not motivated mostly if not entirely by sex

They are porn stories though, they are mostly a vehicle for the sex scenes. Obviously that's by no means an excuse to write the characters poorly, I'm not saying that, but it will always be one of the motivations for those characters.

Usually I try to have them be initially motivated by lust, but then they discover things about their partner that they like, for example Stanley was willing to help Raz even though she had treated him poorly, and that endeared him to her.

The Snek MC learns over time that Vi is a real person with emotions and opinions, and not just a weapon.

I got no excuse for Splashdown, both characters were assholes and I just reveled in their bickering.

Does that kind of story telling only work in my own head, or did you get that from what you read?
>>
>>7028247
I don't think he's going to end up being much help on that front. The success will come when Vi suggests airdropping interspecies porn doujinshi on viper barracks.
ADVENT are going to have a hell of a headache finding a way to spin the declining viper numbers and rash of civilian disappearances.
>>
>>7028348
I think you just need to let those "things about their partner they like" show through in more obvious ways than what you currently do. It's always about the execution, and those motivations aren't always as obvious from the text as you think they are. As a result, they always leave me with a feeling that the relationship's intensification comes out of left field.

(Also, the thing with "normal people" is that they tend to be boring to read about, especially if there's nothing about them as individuals beyond their role in the pairing.)

My suggestion is to essentially act as if you've never seen the fic before, as if someone else asked you to look at it on their behalf. In effect, you have to forget you wrote it and forget everything you know about the characters save for what is in the fic itself. It helps you be less biased in any attempts at reviewing the work, since it's only natural that you'd go easier on your own work than someone else's.

And while they are porn stories, there's a world of difference between making the porn support the story and making the story just window-dressing for the porn. Personally, I find it best when the two support each other, and even plot-light fics work best when the plot doesn't seem like just an excuse to make sex happen.
>>
>>7028366
So in summary:
>build character motivations more slowly over a longer period of time
>use third person to switch perspectives and flesh out those motivations better
>make the motivations more obvious to the reader

>My suggestion is to essentially act as if you've never seen the fic before

I feel like this is something that's going to be a problem for me, I understand what I should do, but not how to do it.

>there's a world of difference between making the porn support the story and making the story just window-dressing for the porn

I did try very hard to create interesting plots to compliment the porn, especially with Pinwheel and Snek 3, they were extremely long compared to most of the stuff that gets posted. Did it still come across as just window dressing for the sex scenes?
I tried to fit in action scenes, some suspense, a bit of romance, I don't know if I succeeded or not.

Thanks for the in-depth feedback by the way.
>>
>>7028388
I think you're doing a decent job of producing plots that are more than just window dressing; for the most part you seem to be aware of where you have weaknesses and the main solution is just ongoing practice.

All I can think of off the bat to try and hone your approach regarding >>7028366's
>I think you just need to let those "things about their partner they like" show through in more obvious ways than what you currently do.
is to try keeping a short summary (say a couple of lines per character per relationship) summarising each major character's thoughts and feelings about each other, then update it after each scene to see if you've had the characters remark on one another's actions or a piece of internal monologue or what have you to communicate any big shifts or epiphanies they've had. It's a bit crude, but it might help you stay conscious of communicating internal character developments.
>>
>>7028396
Thanks again for the wealth of feedback, I just today started work on a new story so I can try to apply what you've told me and hopefully improve over the previous ones.
>>
>>7028414
There's at least two of us posting input, so I can't take all the credit. Hopefully multiple viewpoints will improve the overall quality of the advice.

I'm interested to see what's causing Xhe's deference given that her time on the Pinwheel means she'll know just how flimsy humans are, and this new guy is going to look quite a bit weedier than a trained soldier. While some of it is inevitably going to be down to intense diplomatic training, presumably the borealans need parallel social structures that allow them to function and develop in disciplines where strength and power is utterly useless for sorting out a hierarchy but cooperation is essential, like architecture and engineering.

>>
>>7028388
Not quite as much as your earlier works, but it's still there to some degree. Probably more obvious in the Snek ones, since the female lead is functionally mute and therefore incapable of really communicating what's on her mind. My advice is to view it as a fic which happens to have some porn in it, rather than a fic made specifically for the porn.

>I understand what I should do, but not how to do it.

Ultimately, there's no real advice for that. It's like riding a bike - you can't really explain how to do it, you just figure it out with practice. I do find rereading it after a rather long time after you've written it can help get you in the right mindset, though.

So far we're thinking, they like savory meats, they're very sensitive to the tastes of the oils and fats, far moreso than humans are. Texture is also very important in their cooking. They even use spray bottles of animal, fish and vegetable based oils as condiments.
They take a lot of care feeding their livestock to make sure the fat tastes a certain way when it's slaughtered.

They eat fish and seafood from the lake, they like oily fish.

They eat a corn-style grain that grows in the jungle, which is what led them to agriculture and animal husbandry. They also enjoy eating pumpkin-like gourds that grow on parasitic creepers they find on trees.

They like jerked meat and fried animal skin as snacks, and they also eat savory cereals.

They aren't very sensitive to sweet foods and thus don't eat any sweet fruits, and they don't cook meat for sweetness.

And your point is?

>not making cute girls put eggs up their ass
>not taking them out in public with them filled with eggs
>Not bending her over and eating out her ass afterwards

I'm all for worldbuilding, and in-universe documentation is my crack.

Sounds like they'd be big into slow cooked fatty meats then. They'd probably love traditionally made doner kebab, that stuff's tender and melt-in-the-mouth as fuck and has amazing texture from how the pieces of meat are melded into the big spindle thing. Unlike the weird brown homogenized cylinders that you get in shitty places passed off as doner meat.

Carnivorous teeth probably make it difficult to deal with relatively uncooked meat, while it's great for tearing stuff off it's going to be harder to really chew over or savor than with omnivorous teeth like ours.

They might very well like salty or umami cracker-like foods; part of the appeal of dog biscuits and crunchy treats for cats is similarity to crunching tiny bones, sort of like why some people enjoy certain types of fish or why there are practices involving cooking small birds whole. I could see them making a diverse array of things like senbei and arare, or the assorted indian snacks used in stuff like Bombay mix.

Where are the twins conjoined? And what are they masturbating to? these are important for my fetishes
>>
>>7030337
It's not too far off things like bugs, which housecats hunt.
Plus salted popcorn is salty, and most animals go for that at least occasionally.
>>
>>7030401
Though I should probably add, salt is monumentally bad for housecats, so try to keep it off them. Microwave popcorn in general tends to have stuff that's somewhat toxic to cats. Might be related to things like them having fairly delicate kidneys, which is why constant access to fresh water is so important for them.

What the fuck am I looking at?

I don't think that's against the rules, as long as you cleaned her out beforehand. Well, that or you're using hentai-logic.

You're really skirting the line of what is ban-worthy.
>>
Guy writing the fic about the SOB having the the hots for Astartes here. I had less time to write this week than I planned, but the story is coming along nicely. I might not have it finished tonight, but it'll certainly be done this weekend.
>>
>>7030586
Yeah I figure with human genitalia it's just monster girl art on a non blue board.

Can you fucking imagine getting banned from /d/ though?
>>
>>7030589
The problem isn't the genitalia. It's furriness.
>>
>>7030589
it's usually one a day ban and even then band are easier to dodge than ever with phones
>>
>>7030591
Anon some monster girls have fur, the no fur rule applies to actual /fur/ content.
As in wolf dudes and shit.
>>
>>7030593
Except when they're fucking human woman or have a horn glued to their foreheads. Furry stuff gets posted all the time in TF threads, vore threads, and monsters fucking human woman threads.
>>
>>7030593
I'm pretty sure that most (if not all) pokemon count as furry. Monstergirls only count if they're anthropomorphized and have a muzzle. There are enough sites that cater to pokemon and furries anyway.

>>7030595
Werewolves and monsters of that strain, on the other hand, don't count, since they're not anthropomorphized all that much.
>>
>>7030599
Well I guess you could include that as well.
>>
Damn that's good.
