Let's throw around ideas and workshop some banner concepts here.

Here's the first thing that came to my mind when thinking what would represent /d/. Not sure how this could work out in such a small amount of vertical space though.

/d/ is not just about porn, it's about fetishes. There can be fetish without being NSFW.

Take this one banner idea I just made for instance. No NSFW material, but it gets across the weird fetish angle, while also doubling as a representation of /d/ violating the eyes of the innocent.

Hey there, I'm a banner contest veteran (2x winner and 6x runner up) and I've always thought /d/ had the best most tolerant and awesome community on 4chan :-)

Here are some tips:
-Never submit different versions or similar banners. You'll just be competing against yourself. Only submit multiple banners if they are *very* different ideas, usually it's best to just go with one exceptionally good banner.
-Remember that your target audience is the general population of 4chan (more specifically: everyone who owns a pass). It's one of the big faults of contest - injokes and board culture do not matter and will not win.You have to make your banner understandable for someone who has never visited /d/ if you want a shot at winning.
-Humour and/or references are basically required. Most winners feature some kind of joke and/or meme. People will vote for your banner if they get a cheap laugh out of it.
-The idea matters more than the technical execution (which pains me greatly, but shitty banners that are funny have a greater chance than well made banners with great board representation - which is where all my second places come from).
-/d/ might be a bit too obscure to attract haters and trolls, but be prepared to rage at the winning submission. Several boards have really been screwed over by the contest and have gotten ininspired, shitty, hateful and generally awful banners (/f/, /diy/, /sci/, /adv/, etc).

It's sad, but I can't really recommend making a banner that embodies /d/. I mean, don't let me stop you from creating an awesome banner! Just don't expect to win...

In a vacuum I'm going to predict that something that regularly comes up in hentai humour threads will win. And that's already kind of a best case, because it would at least remotely fit the board...

But please, please, prove me wrong! I'd be really happy if a board I like finally gets a banner they deserve. So far this hasn't happened sadly...

Best I could find of this old image. This was one of the first images I saw when I first came to /d/ years ago, and while I haven't seen it posted in a long time I've always thought it was a fun joke befitting of /d/. I'm not too sure how you could make it fit the require dimensions though; maybe have the girl and the duck's face in view with "/d/ - hentai/alternative is for duckgirls"?

The Idea I had was something like this; /d/-tan, inviting people to come look in a tantilizing way (sort of a mysterious yet sexy line), and the "/d/- Hentai/Alternative would scroll as a .gif through various fetishes. So it'd be like "/d/-Giantess", "/d/-Vore", "/d/-Dickgirls" etc. I have no idea how to make .gifs like that, so the idea is free if anyone wants to use it.

I wouldn't recommend deleting the banner to try to resubmit as it might get flagged for being a duplicate when it gets resubmitted.

Honestly, while I don't think is particularly wrong to use it (it really fits on here), I think someone at /a/ is planning to use it eventually.

In other things, how long it takes for the mods to review and approve something? I submitted a banner, and I'm worried if they will find it SFW or not, mainly because it have a vaguely shape bulge and a couple ahegao faces, (the one that gets reposted everywhere when something goes lewd in an unrelated board and vaguely looks like /d/-tan); it would be nice if I have a couple days to redo the banner if they don't approve it.

To me, the first frame and especially second frame linger a little too long. You have to remmeber people probably won't be looking at it for a super-long period of time, so you might want to shorten how long it takes to get to the third frame, though since that's the end of the animation it should be alright to let that one hang around for a while.

It's well made, it's clear and descriptive of the board, it alludes to human nature. Well done!

My runners-up are "I recognize that bulge" and the Oglaf dwarves. Both are pretty funny and nostalgic, but not really /d/, I feel. The bulge comes from a blue board and the banner is in blue giving the impression /d/ is a worksafe board. The Oglaf dwarves don't really fit ever since /aco/ was split off, even though the banner is well made.

I've gotta say - I've submitted banners for most boards, but not /d/, since the people in this thread made banners with pretty much every single idea I had. The last one I had was using this old joke (picture related), but on the last day in came >>7029613 - oh well. Good job, everyone!

There are like 3 monster girl threads at any point in this board. (One explicitly about it, then some others focused on aspects like fantasy setting or even some BDSM topics), but that manga on specific is rarely mentioned, afaik.

However, I think is a solid vote. The manga is well known outside /d/, and it mentions a lot of fetishes that populate this board, so yeah, is recognizable and representative.

The general feeling I've gotten is that it's almost like a "representative" of us to some outside places, so it's liked but not excessively so. Would be a good vote.

In the end I voted for the pulsing tentacle. Nice and simple, but representative and kinda artistic.

The simple comics (pic related) the artist did prior to Monmusu, which largely inspired it, were pretty well-liked back when they were still coming out, but Monmusu, beyond the whole monstergirl thing, is too generic harem animu for most /d/eviants, I think.

Personally, I'm not a big fan of the character designs.

I'm a bit disappointed, I have to say. It's a decent meme, but shallow, and the banner itself is boring.
