My partner and I want to try puppy play, with me as the owner and him as the pup. I'm planning to use a language he doesn't know when I talk to him, I want to keep our first time lighthearted and nonsexual, and for our first puppy-owner activity I want to play fetch.

Any tips for how to help him refrain from human habits (like speaking and walking) and find his canine headspace?

Talking in a language is a great idea! Can't believe i've never heard of that idea before. I found with my first owner that clever bondage helps. A gag that depresses the tongue but allows for vocalization helps avoid talking. Hand/ankle cuffs which are connected in front of your pet forces them to stay on all fours because they can't straighten their body out.

Obviously both of these have to be used in moderation for your pet's health. If your pet can't straighten out or talk regularly, they can develop serious health issues, so I would limit these to the length of a scene at most.

Been curious about trying it, has anybody ever tried acting out how dogs allegedly lick peanut butter off anywhere/thing with their owner/pet? Could be with other condiments, but I imagine jam, butter, honey etc. are too runny and would only make a mess

stuff like peanut butter/frosting are perfect, they are thick and cling to skin well and are also nice and tasty. don't use too much though. keep in mind it is much harder to eat off of a person than a fork, so they'll probably get tired faster, and also, keep in mind how much a person would be able to eat normally, and half it. so as a rough guide I would say dip your index finger into it and pull out a nice clump and use that. if you apply more, then you're just going to have to wash it off yourself.

I like to imagine what a society or community based off of a pet play based religion would be like. From birth some people is raised to act a certain way. I suppose it would work with mix genders if you clearly label who is raised to be a pet and non pets with something like collars. I prefer to either have one gender be pets it is kind of kinkier. Since it's a religion and life style people can leave. But metal that might be hard if you have been raised to walk around naked and eat out of a dog bowl your whole life.

This does make me think of a fic I was dabbling with inspired by the Fallout series that had a girl that was a pet slave in some cult and found her self freed in a post apocalyptic world. Her collar was a device like a pipboy that covered her body in a energy field making her semi-immune to temperature and impacts allow her to comfortably walk around naked almost everywhere and does since she never wore much clothing. Her collar is also stuck on a setting that shocks her if she puts something to cover genitals, so she can't be anything but naked. I would see them as human, just human pets they do general pet stuff and they get treated like pets. Pets are either naked or wear what their owners put on them, Eats what and it how their owner gives them. Sleep where and how their owner tells them. They beg for their master's attention and likes head pats and tummy/titty rubs. You can choose to have them lay round all day or put their intelligence and skills to use and have them do things for you like cooking, cleaning or what ever. I would play video and board/card games with my pet because that's how humans play.

But I suppose what people would see their pets as would depend of the individual. But I like the balance of pets being human but with out I guess would be call humanity.

Yes, beds made specifically for dogs exist in sizes that would accomodate most humans with just a little bit of curling up involved.
My personal favorite napping place is inside a cage that's only 28"x30"x42". There's a piece of 4 inch upholstory foam under a thin doggy bed in the bottom, a small pillow and a fleece blanket. I'm 5'10" and weight about 170#.
The real question you need to ask yourself is how much are you willing to spend on the bed?
Also, if you want to find said bed, just look at the big box pet supply stores. You can order on-line if you're worried about folks asking you questions about your "pet".
