CoC and TiTs is flash, which was the first thing I learned a long time ago. Its pretty easy too.

There are languages and then there are engines. I see alot of anons make decent stuff with the game maker engine over in vg's agdg.

Learning a language is different then using an engine, an engine comes with bits prebuilt. I'd look up some 2D game engines.

That being said, mine is in Java. It doesn't quite matter what you use at the beginner level, it will be a while before you're competent enough to be held back by your engine.

There are hundreds of changes, additions, and bugfixes, so I can't list them all here.
To summarize:
-Added content for the jar of goo and mini-android that you could find from moving around
-New "relief station" in the outpost, with art
-About 3 or 4 times more content than the prototype had in all. I think like 160k-210k words of content. Going to work on an automatic counter for this soon..
-Lots of grammar/wording fixes, and some blocks of content have been split up so there are less big walls of text all at once.
-Some old prototype content was edited to make use of some new features in the engine that weren't possible back then(input callbacks, etc).
-Clothing stuff should be reimplemented and working correctly
-Lots of updates to the parser. Should less frequently vomit out overly descriptive stuff repeatedly. Shouldn't repeat the same things twice. Lots of bug fixes on it. etc
-Loads of updates to descriptors and what you can describe
-Stats should be working correctly
-Disabled dialog options generally should give an idea of what condition isn't met
-Updates that make it a lot easier to fork the test server updates to the main server, and keep the parity for the tryout application server

We are also looking for writers again, if you know anyone that can handle that sort of work.

A lot of my friends were huge on MUD games.
I simply couldn't get into them because they were generally clunky, though there are some new ones that are a lot more polished and easier to get into.

Yes, I can't support everyone who might want to play at any time.
The prototype would sometimes have hundreds playing, and the new engine has the whole world simulated on the server and a bunch of other things that create much higher load and bandwidth usage than the prototype did.
At this point, that wouldn't be sustainable both until more are supporting the game and I get some things worked on with the engine (chashing, namely).
But like it says, the game will be free. It just isn't now that it's in alpha.

I think 250 is probably enough for everyone that finds this thread and wants to get in to get in before this thread is archived.

Could be fun to go further with tallness and have some monstrous alien dick as big as most NPCs' thigh. But you make a lot more content difficult to work that way, especially as a huge female.

It's a lot easier to procedurally add content, like your character pissing themselves when they take a huge dick in their ass if they're a wetter. Whereas monstrously tall needs massive changes to lots of content.

And psuedo-3D created from CSS would be the alternative to WebGL. The vast majority do support WebGL, though... but I still wanted to add the alternative for those it doesn't or for those it's laggy on.

Like I threw http://jsfiddle.net/hrqvqkb7/ together and I think it should run smooth for everyone in any browser. The problem is that I really need to be able to "focus" the "camera" on a particular planet or moon.

This becomes a huge pain in the ass with something 2.5D. Like sure I can zoom in by scaling the parent element up, and shifting it to keep it centered on a body, but what about that moon going behind a huge gas giant?

So I might have to make it a flat, top down view.. which I didn't want to. In 3D it's way easier to keep a camera focused on a point so I can keep that moon in focus as it goes around a larger planet.
Erm I think there was some frameworks to do 3D with CSS but they were super laggy in Firefox... Like I said, maybe I should just do top-down, but it's a shame the prettiness that people miss out on.

There's a mostly proper API so you can attach the ears to the eyes through modding in your browser's console.

However, I'm still lacking some stuff in the description generation. It should then say "... glances to your eyes covered by an ear each ..." if you set the parent of ears to eyes instead of the head, but I'm still working on that.

Goddamn why is Trap Quest so irritating? Nearly every encounter leads me to getting fucked over, most of the times literally, despite being at max health. For the encounters I do win, I have to immediately find rest or risk losing to the next mob(usually right around the corner)

That's what I did with my game (come next update), it just switches pronouns and tense sensitive words/verbs. It wasn't actually that much work. The only extra effort is setting up the cases and pronouns, plus some extra layers for if a character looks like pronoun-x but is actually a pronoun-y or the player just wants a specific pronoun for preference reasons. Most of this was done so I can drop in any npc or gender into randomized sequences and have it all work out, the side effect was being able to also change how the game reads out about the player.

I figured most prefer second person, which is why I originally wrote the game in that narrative. People like being immersed in that way, I'm like that in regular games, but oddly for sex games I like to just be a detached observer, watching the character(s) or having them tell me whats happening to them, so this optional addition was also a big part for my personal interest.

Well part of why it's online is that you don't have to front all the content. It can be streamed as players encounter it.
Millions of words of text ends up being a lot of data. And things are updated rapidly. That ends up being a lot of bandwidth with the number of people playing it that I'd like to have.

But it feeling clunky or annoying because of latency, or having issues playing with a spotty internet connection, is definitely a problem that shouldn't be there that gets fixed as things go forward.

The way to do that is complicated, though. Like I need to precalculate what a player can encounter in an area before it happens for the whole area. So the client would already know what should come up and when, and the server agree with that after the fact.
Well this makes a lot of issues come up. The precalculation has to change each time not just if something changes on the player which may change the likelihood of content showing, but if something in the world changes too. So there's all this precalculation that has to keep being recalculated for lots of people.

So.. it's possible, but there's a lot of tech involved that needs worked out. But fundamentally, I agree that the whole online thing needs to not make a player's experience worse. It should only be making it better with getting the instantly updated content, interactions with others if they want it, etc. So in some way, I need to resolve the issues that come with high pings or spotty connections. They aren't easy to resolve, but I'll be working on it.

The UI needs a total redo, really, but I don't know how it should look in the end right now. But yeah, messes up on some resolutions like that.

Oh you weren't kidding about the lag. Usually the game server would handle a request in a few microseconds. This is beyond any ping lag.

Something is wrong that I'll have to look into. This never came up in earlier testing. Could also be DoS.

Good to hear you acknowledge it, having everything online is definitely nice for those who doesn't have a bandwidth limit. But as it stand the anything from milliseconds to seconds delay is very off putting, but it's not hard to deal with once one is aware off it.

Certain scenes are still mess-up, but that's mainly because of my resolution. Got a small 1280x1024 monitor I like to use to reading. Formatting works fine on a 16:9 monitor.

Why is it such an inevitability? I've always made it clear that players need outs and need to be "asking for it" or royally fuck up for the bad things to happen. I don't how something would happen beyond my control to ruin my game like that.

I don't get that at all. Bugs don't happen deliberately, and there's certainly stuff in the UI or how some things work that I'd like to have better but it just needs more development until that happens, but creating content like that is just plain deliberate and doesn't just happen on its own.

It's not so much "this flawed" as that's an issue that affects less than 5% of people. For an alpha, I don't think that's too bad, but it's obviously not *good*.

There's just a degree of managing what to do and win. If I already had the connectivity perfect for 100% instead of 95%, it would mean lots of work detracted somewhere else from that 95%. But ultimately of course I want it to work for everyone else. That's why I'm going to spend dozens of hours writing an entirely new renderer that only like 1-5% of people will probably use or be forced to use due to lack of WebGL.

Saving no long requires you to be a Patron, but they'll be cleared periodically. (and descriptions you spent time on always stayed saved, anyway)

You are an ancient sex deity that has been sealed in a phallic object and buried under a shrine for what seems to be an eternity.
Ages pass, the shrine falls into decay and is finally torn down by local business interest in our modern era, revealing that there are material remains on the grounds to be excavated.

Simply punishing the turboslut option and rewarding anonymity is the worst possible option because it turns winning and fapping into contradictory goals, and that makes any h-game feel like a chore.

I think the better option is to make going full turboslut basically the goal of the game. At some point you unlock the option of shamelessly showing face, or it becomes profitable when it didn't used to be, and then it feels like a reward for progress, but the anonymity system still has its place in the early game.

After giving it some though, my plan is as follows:
Wannabe turbosluts can take a Trait at character creation that significantly reduces whatever the penalties of getting doxxed will be. It also reduces your Privacy stat (making doxxing more likely), because your character doesn't care much about potentially getting ID'd.
Without it, the penalties are still manageable.
With the opposite trait, the penalties are much more severe, but your Privacy stat gets a buff.

The main drawbacks of getting doxxed will probably be RP-based anyway. Your family and friends getting upset, or you not being able to leech off waifu-thirsty NEETs on vidya streaming sites anymore (which is less profitable than turbosluttery anyway).

I'll try to make both of them viable playstyles.

I'm conflicted with regards to that sort of thing.

If I lock content behind a Corruption stat:
The advantage is that the player is rewarded with porn for excelling at the game, which makes sense.
The drawback is that I have to take control away from the player. "You can't do X because your character doesn't want to." That works for some games, but I don't think I want it in this one. Then again, a low Willpower already has a similar but opposite effect: Randomly forcing you to do things you don't want to when offered a lot of money.

If I give the player complete control of the character:
The advantage is that the player is in control. It's 'you vs. the world', not 'you vs. the character you're supposedly controlling'.
The disadvantage is that the player will be able to go straight to 'dragon dildo midget amputee orgy' on day one. I'd prefer if you actually had to work your way up to that.

I'll try, but the problem with that is that I'd have to either use the same artist (greatly limiting options) or the same popular character. I don't know about you, but when my character turns out to look exactly like somebody from Bleach or Naruto, I'm slightly displeased.
