That's an unfortunate side-effect of my coding skill, not an intentional feature. I'd much rather write a scene about getting beaten up than force a player to play it helplessly, because it's pointless gameplay. In order to actually make an unwinnable fight matter, you'd have to cram in a load of options that wouldn't influence the fight, but would influence events after the fight, and even then that's pretty lame.

I do have a fight that's technically unwinnable, but only in the sense that it's set up right from the start as "this would be a Really Fucking Bad Idea, are you really goddamn sure?" until you get some power back, at which point it's a betrayal/revenge scene. I'm a really prickly top, I hate being forced to do certain things, even when it's that simple, the faked agency just pisses me off.

All "female only" does for slaves is make female slaves much more likely and turn the semi-random slaves (the rival, the vatgrown chick) into females, whereas "female & male" makes them sterile hermaphrodites, and "male only" presumably makes them shemales; I've never had cause to check.

You can still get dicked slaves through the markets, through random events (though I think it does disable a few), and through crafting your own slaves at the beginning.

How exactly are you losing rep for buying slaves? What messages are you seeing that's causing it?

Sometimes during the end of week splash screen descriping what all your girls were doing, it'll fail to get a value like beauty or whatever when calculating how much money or rep she earned and return a broken value which will break your money or rep for the rest of the game.
This is why after each turn you should check your money and rep to see if its broken and if it is load your quick save.
Sometimes I've found that the girl who was returning broken money will return broken rep if set to a rep building job, so its best to put them on a rest job and hope that next week they'll stop being broken.

Possibilities for the issues you have described range from NCURSES definitions for backspace and delete screwing up (so I added the Windows def for backspace, and made delete and backspace inter-changable), to confusion around direct input and scroll/select input modes (so I added a binding for delete and backspace to break out of scroll/select back into direct input). Devs have trouble just finding writers of all things. Even the small projects with hardly much writing requirements can't even scrounge up writers to fill in old placeholder scenes.

But as I've stated 100 times over, you won't get help until you're 95% done with game. When you don't even need it anymore is when people will bother to say they'll help you after all. Even then they might just disappear after making some obligations.

I feel sorry for sandbox/open world devs because 95% is basically an entire game before anyone cares. Meanwhile, slave management sims can get some varied amount of help here and there by the least. Maybe IslandDev's demo will be at least enough to entice someone's interest to give his source page some suggestions to issues. Or he gets flooded with interest and dies of a pressure implosion.

The preferred way would be to pump out a game or two, no matter how simple, so you can get a bit of reputation.

It's funny you say this, I've tried to convince new-devs to do this too but instead they always put up a big talk about how good at programming or they're dreaming both and aiming for the stars and either try to make their own engine or fall down sandbox feature-creep hell, very few succeed... some engines get mostly completed but the dev gives minimal documentation/support and just fucks off elsewhere. Open world games with corruption and transformation entice a number of devs but they still need to actually write all the variations to scenes too. Nibiru died again; twice now and has fallen under new engine/sandbox hell. Even players themselves have to be mindful of the devs limits or they'll end up distracting them for meaningless content.

It's why I just tell people to use twine now. No need for fancy UI, just get something done and get some experience in programming/writing first. There is still people from back in 2010-2012 that have been doing nothing but working on UI/groundwork for their games engine. One guy has spent the last 8 years doing nothing but planning his masterwork's mechanics alone and has only just recently started active development. Though he still has experience in game creation from the years.

Finally though, there is the opposite spectrum effect, a few devs are just constantly creating new games/engines and never refine a single one. Collectively one dev has managed to make somewhat more entertaining games and he is competant, though he has gotten almost zero support so they never quite get filled out and there are just bouts of decent content sprinkled in with all the crashes and bugs. Now his current game is like a mash-up of all his long-dead projects rolled up into one, taking the lessons from each.

Where are the angry anons at? It's kind of odd we've only got one guy who hates gays but he only made a single line post. Unnervingly civil here.
