Recently decided to give Student Transfer a try and it's a shame that it seems a little less far along than Press-Switch because, while Press-Switch may have more options so far, Student Transfer seems much better written on the basis that the MC doesn't seem like as much of a loser beta and the game doesn't seem obsessed with figuring out what ways he can get stuck in a bad end, raped, humiliated or generally fucked over largely because the other characters around him (unlike Press-Switch) aren't utter psychopaths. Katrina in ST and Mika from PS share the same basic role (tomboy female best friend) but Katrina's great and teases the MC in a more believable manner where Mika comes off as a childish cunt for example.

Shame that I saw one of the people involved show up in an archived thread and when asked what people would like to see it was nothing but a bunch of fags wishing for more identity death, the character being feminized, just lots of general Bad End shit. I don't get the obsession with it because even getting my rocks off, when the entire game or world is set up to basically fuck over the MC it just pisses me off more than anything. That's way more thought than needs to go into spank VNs though.

I know how you feel, man. I wouldn't get your hopes up too much, because a lot of the planned routes (at least from when I was a writer in the very early days) involve a little too much identity death for my tastes and they seem to be the ones getting the most attention. I guess that's just how the tfgamessite community is, not much we can do about that. I will say the planned routes that I saw were more varied and interesting than PS, for the most part.

I honestly feel bad that I just dropped off the face of the earth during the early writing stages but it couldn't be helped since I was too busy at college to sit down and work on the game. At least they kept the stuff I wrote for the prologue.

If anybody from the dev team reads this, Phido says sorry for ditching, it was really fun while I was involved but I didn't want to drag development down by being inconsistent.

Bad things happening is fine but I sort of like some follow up. Like there's an incomplete path in Press-Switch where the MC gets into the body of a girl and his friend rapes him. I'd like to see, if that's ever continued, things reverse where the MC is able to turn the tables on his friend and get revenge for him being a piece of shit. If I'm playing something like that or reading a story, I want the MC to eventually win, you know? Having the optino of bad ends and the like is fine but it's more annoying when everything basically seems to want to drag you in that direction; the difference I guess between the MC having a hard time or struggles and the universe deciding to just take a giant shit on him I guess.

Identity death I hate regardless. Mental alterations here or there (making someone more or less assertive) is fine but completely erasing the identity of the MC is just something I've never liked at all and it seems to be an all too common in thing in TG fiction of all stripes, VNs or stories or whatever. The Heather rotue that's available right now in Press-Switch is honestly the worst example of mental alteration/identity death stuff I've ever seen where it comes off as completely meanspirited and miserable and thus there's nothing enjoyable (for me) to be gained from it.

With VNs, since they're basically CYOAs and the MC is basically supposed to be a stand-in for the player (even if they're an estabilished character), I just don't like the idea of going through something that seems to want to go out of its way to dump on you.

I used to, but stopped when they moved more and more features behind a registration wall, fuck that. The place was frustrating anyway, very few of the bodyswap stories I looked at were finished and the quality was all over the place. You could have a series of really well written chapters and then suddenly the next chapters are all one liners that are awfully written and try to force furry/inflation/BBW/whatever into the story or lead to something like "ur ded. teh end", and that's where a promising story dies. So yeah, the site was good for a quick fix, kind like captions, but nothing more.

Student Bodies, actually. I know because I was one of the main contributors to that before the main author started up Book of Masks which I've also contributed quite a bit too.

Speaking of, it's not possession but Book of Masks is IMO the best thing to ever be written on that site though I may be biased. There's some possession-y elements in certain long branches though.

Also, completely different topic but there's a guy on Farhad's forum working on a possess-themed RPG Maker game called The Heart Rod and so far he seems to be actually delivering on what he's promising. It's in a very early alpha/pre-beta stage right now so there's not much there but he's consistently working on it so far and plans on giving daily updates in the thread and releasing updated builds weekly.

I'm certainly trying though I get frustrated with any inability to proceed pretty easily so it's been maybe a week or so since I've put anything because I've been unhappy with how to proceed. Kind of sucks that one of the other main contributors basically burned himself out and hasn't written anything for it in a year or two. I think the small number of contributors and the sheer effort that's been put into it has helped it maintain a good quality: there's a standard that entries have to have, I'd think, and that can maybe intimidate/drive away the type of """"""""writer"""""""" who'd put in poorly spelled, incoherent, three paragraph drivel. The main writer also has something of a bible in regards to how the magic and stuff is supposed to work, character lists, a map of the school/city, even down to student schedules, class rosters, the school's curriculum, etc. All behind the scenes fluff but helps to give it a sense of coherence and move it beyond fapbait.

Any idea of things or characters or whanot you liked? I know there's some stuff/characters I'm proud of and enjoy writing and plenty of stuff I think I've bungled.

Random subject change too but it's a shame that I don't think the idea of the Great Shift from Fictionmania and the like is played up as good as it should be. A lot of the stories are just done as a way to cause body swaps and some small bit of minor chaos. I had on writing.com a Great Shift story that the main guy from BoM contributed a few chapters to and his stuff had a very dark, apocalyptic feel to it which I think is a great approach to take to a concept like that.

Oh! I did met TGS through wdc before actually learning about Morpheus' oeuvre. it definitively had tons of potential and went far deeper than any of the original stories did it for me. I agree, such an scenario can get downright apocalyptic pretty fast, and that aspect tends to be underplayed in most FM tales.

I've been re-reading Masks because it's been so long and i've just gone down one storyline so far, the one where our mc doesn't shares anything until he has to and then unlocks as many spells as possible, mostly because i wanted to get a feel for what this story was offering in terms of tg potential.
Given the context, i think wont find much of what i want around. I enjoy deeply swaps where the swapped people are out of their comfort zone by having to pretend to be the other, WITHOUT mental mingling and identity death (which seems to be a natural consequence of the bands). I don't expect golems to be of much interest to me, at least.
I'll probably get back to you when i've read most of it already. Maybe write a review next body swap thread. Hope you continue giving us awesome content!

Reading the Press-Switch thread on TF Games Site and reading Skiegh's big return post... I can't say I'm too confident in liking the next update. He seemed to focus on the idea that there will be multiple bad ends but hey you can make some of them LESS depressing (still depressing though) so... ugh.

It's why I like Student Transfer more; at least it doesn't seem quite as bad for him as opposed to having an author that jacks himself silly at the thought of making his MC suffer as much as possible. To me there's just nothing enjoyable at all from a game where EVERY decision is "lol everything is depressing and dark FUCK YOU". So like is there anything kinda like Student Transfer or Press Switch? I'm liking this sort of thing, especially bits with (benevolent) mental changes that are taken to well by the protagonist. I adore it when they slowly realize that they actually really enjoy being a girl.

I loved Kiyoshi's route in Student Transfer. Stuff like that, I guess, though the more 'finished' a VN is the happier I'll be with it. This is my first ever foray into OELVNs, so like, I dunno what's good.

Sadly no. Student Transfer was specifically created because people wanted more content like Press Switch, so that's pretty much it assuming we are talking about VN-style games with a focus on bodyswapping and mental changes.

No, you are not. Different people like different things, which is okay. I love Heather's route, but I realize not everyone will. What you should do when you encounter a piece of fiction that you don't like / makes you feel uncomfortable is to simply stop reading/watching/listening and do something else, however that's too difficult for a lot of people, esp. on 4chan. If those same people also happen to be the kind of people that have trouble keeping reality and fiction apart and claim to get mentally scarred by a theoretical concept that will never ever be real you get posts like the ones you quoted. Just ignore them and hope they don't influence Skiegh into giving Heather less attention.

Any recommendations? The TFGamesSite is kinda... difficult to find things that are good, finished, and/or have graphics.

How long does it take between releases, and how much content is usually added? I mean, the last release was like, a year ago.

Seriously, I love this stuff, but there's so little of it. Manga has plenty, but the format is constricting, and it's not as... immersive.

I'm going to be sorely disappointed if there won't be a Student Transfer threeway ending where Mina and Phila both date 'John'.

If you want to see how much and what exactly they are up to you can look at their public GitLab. You can just compile it yourself. Download newest RenPy and just run it from that. I do it myself. The many branches mean you want to know how to use git to switch between them.

Also Mina route is done in the git I think.
