It recently occurred to me that for all the hypnotic files I have, maybe... one or two are actually 'positive', so to speak. I don't think that's really accurate.

Most people that hang around a hypnosis chat are there for one of two reasons:
1. They're already fairly suggestible (or have been tranced once before) and they're there to try more hypnosis, or
2. They really like the idea of hypnosis, but have a tough time actually going under.

The former are gonna be easy to hypnotize, so it won't boost your skill much, and the latter are so hard that you're liable to hurt both of yourselves motivation by failing.

My recommendation for practicing would be to do it on random people unrelated to the hypnosis community, do it with explicit permission, be honest about where you're at with your skills and the fact that you're practicing, and have a clear goal for the trance.

Everyone's ultimately different, so practicing on as many different types of people as possible is the best approach for actually improving your skill. If you're not improving your actual hypnotic skill, chances are you're really just practicing to have more confidence.
