What do you guys think makes or breaks a spanking drawing? I'm an artist trying desperately to improve, but I feel like when it comes to kink stuff, my art just falls flat. Like I'm in a rut. It's the same old copy paste red ass.

So, what's your favorite thing to see? What makes a picture dynamic, or interesting?

The three things to consider are the spankee's butt, the spankee's face, and the spanker's hand. I'm fairly certain these are the most important parts that everyone, spanker or spankee, will focus on.
Most picture I saw fuck up the butt, and have it either being too flat or too fat. Others have the spankee enjoying it (which is a turnoff for some).

The only way to not tell a story is to hide every detail. No background, no expressions, no panties.
Any detail you leave in the picture can be used to (subtly or not) tell a story, though in most case it'll be pulled out of the viewer's ass.
Just see >>6859439 for example, the girl what's-her-name is getting spanked with her own shoe, by someone who's obviously comfortable with the whole thing (and enjoying), and obviously the girl is more embarassed than in pain. Added to the fact she's sitting on a crate and not on a chair, you can already imagine a context for this. I'd say "show, don't tell" is a good thing here. Adding dialogue easily ruins the whole thing because of how cheesy it usually is.

That's true for everything though... People just kinda reach an "OK plateau" where they don't hate themselves for the things they put out--and then put their drawing process on autopilot.

It's basically the same reason why people don't get better at typing even though they do it every day. There are ways around it, but most people instead just get frustrated at their lack of progress and just give up on getting better, hoping that persistence will do the trick for them.

I'm wasn't saying you don't think about what you are doing. I was saying that the steps you take to do those things can become a routine, and as a result, you might plateau because you aren't learning anything new. (Since you did something similar a bunch of times already.)

Is that different for drawing? I was mostly speaking out of experience in programming (Which I think is pretty creative), but I thought it pretty much applied to everything.

Gotta say, I am caring WAY more than I should about clean code and proper patterns in a game to jerk off to.

I don't *really* need a three-layer architecture or full lint compliance but I spend my time on that instead anyway.

It's not like I can put a game about hitting imaginary butts on a resumè.

Yepp I'm still around here. What really killed the C# rework, besides otogawa's books, was the original spanking simualton. While I added some extra features, the code wasn't anything but a mess since I tried to fit my work into the already existing frame, because I couldn't come up with a better overall design.Still got the code, might as well look into it again... The features are already easy to incorporate.

The core spanking process is kind of like a very very simple combat loop, with an HP bar that gets depleted and a small amount of damage done per turn, multiplied by your implement, multiplied by sensitivity, minus clothes' protection.

It's not difficult to do in a programming language and easy in an engine.

What actually confuses me is the UI - I can't stand Winforms and I have no experience with WPF, only with Razor, as well as data storage, not to mention good architecture that can allow for casually adding functions like spanking several people at the same time without rewriting half the code.

Reagarding the UI, get used to cmd windows, since I'm not bothering with that until the core features are done. I might try to design something fancy with java fx probably and there is always swing too, but for now I won't touch that subject, If anybody else wants to voulenteer, I'll set up some interfaces so that you can design it seperately.

Obviously console commands are a type of UI. But if you aren't careful you end up not with a design, but a graphical interface for database management. That's why I bother with three-layer architecture.

Anyway, I need feedback right now.

Even though that will have to be eventually changed when I add any sort of persistence (such as raising obedience), right now I have responses being grabbed from dictionaries, where a value is a List<string> of pre-written responses, and a key is... well, whatever modifier.

Modifiers implemented: damage done on hit, current health, state of undress (when initating and undressing). I'm lumping in implements and shit like that into a single damage value since I can just substitute {implement } into a string.

This is basically what the Actor class in Hell's Angel does, except instead of a dictionary of lists, it uses a dictionary of lists of lists: https://github.com/d-evelopers/HellsAngel/blob/master/interface/js/classes/Actor.js

The reason for that is that each increasing index in the outer list is an increase in intensity, and the inner list are a bunch of possible reactions for that intensity.
That means you can be more conservative with the outer list's indexes, because staying on the same index won't net you the same response.

That also would solve your "when the spankee is more obedient" issue because one of your reaction "types" can include "spanking-talk" or something, which could have indignant reactions at low indexes, and more polite responses at higher indexes.
That would make reactions to pain the same, but the things said between those reactions change; separating the two keeps things simple.

Would that sort of thing work for you too?

Short answer, no.

Long answer, the engine reads stories, understands art, has effects, is moddable without touching any source code, and also has a GUI editor for some parts of it--but there is no art, no story, and no audio. (Aside from placeholder stuff to make sure story stuff works in dev mode) Also, there are plenty of things not complete gameplay-wise.

Basically, it's a shell and not ready unless you are looking to help out. (Though, I'm not really in any hurry, I basically just work on it every once in a while for a few hours anyway.)

Anyway, today I added mod support for the implements and coded the implement and npc-(multi)selection for the spankings. Tomorrow I'll finish up the position objects and a basic spanking loop, which will still be more advanced than the original sim one. Next up will be moddable reactions for nearly any situation and perhaps the dressing mechanic. If I'm finally done with this, the SPATAE could be something that might actually be used to create some wankable stuff...

I was talking about having an abstract base class that implements the interface for things that can be spanked.

Or in the case of an implement, just having method signatures.
That way, adding logic to certain types of implements wouldn't be a pain to add later.

That's not really hardcoding though--since it's logic!

You can still have subclasses of spankee that have different logic, and populate everything else about them from something a user can edit (I like JSON for this), including what limbs exist, and what's grabbable. (If that makes sense?)

If you do that, nothing is actually hardcoded.

That said, if you want users to be able to modify logic too, you'll either need to make a mini-language for yourself, or embed something into your code. (I use Clojure for Java, for example)

A spanking has to make sense, even if it's little. Revenge spanking and blackmailing spanking aren't my things. The spanker has to be in a definitive position of power. Shimeji experiments with other medias rather than focusing on pictures and that's good, but his style lacks originality, as it always look like he's using the same characters each time.

Keyneqq is kinda like Shimeji, he lacks originality and is too repetitive.

At any rate, it's extremely obvious Fireball cares more about the plot than the gameplay. The RPG part is pretty basic so far : grind until you kill everything in two turns, then move to next screen.
The real problem is that he uses way too much decorations in his screens, and sometimes they don't make sense. Why would you have a spear rack next to the throne? Why are the pantries so close to each others?
Why does the mimic chest turns from a ornate one into a plain wooden one?

So I'm not sure how, but there are three spankings you can witness in the demo.

So far, I only saw the first one. You need to go to the castle, talk to the girls, have one following, go kill an orc in the forest, come back to the castle, and you witness the glasses girl getting caned.

After that, there's a dinner scene, and I got stuck in a cave before I could reach the second spanking scene.

And since I have no idea what's happening anyway, it's not really satisfying.
