There is more than three. Those were just the ones that posted what they made in this thread. Others have posted code and code help for them, not to mention the anon_bot snippet is in Ruby, a language that (AFAIK) none of those three write. Hell, even our sticky is on GitHub.

I think if we got an actual collaborative project started, we'd see a lot more development than all the one-man-army developers had... Largely because the project wouldn't hinge on the inspiration of just a single person.

Text adventures with free text parsing are archaic.

There is a reason they evolved into point and clicks with "move to" and "push" and then modern point and clicks with smart cursor and active zone highlight, or CYOA and visual novels, while the basic roguelike control scheme remained unchanged since the 80s.

Why not make a cyoa instead. That is what I'm doing, at least, given that i came up with the general concept and no one did anything with it so far.

From what I saw, instead of picking one card like you do on Amazon or Steam, you associate one to your account and pay directly with it.

If you want to pay for the products directly, they won't accept your card. Instead, go to your Profile and buy points, which translate 1 on 1 into yen. Strangely enough paying for points with my German visa works. After that use your freshly bought points to buy the book of your choice

If you want to make a text adventure, it's quite easy. You start in a condo with your sister (level 1), and have to find various keys to unlock all the rooms, and find enough proofs of her wrongdoings. Once you spanked all the girls in the level, you progress to another level (maybe the school or something like that, with more girls, some of them being innocents).
I admit I'm quite attracted by Neutron-Star kun, but I have no idea how he should act. Just saying that I can probably code a game like that. It'll probably be missing some buttons, so the young kids will still be forced to use the keyboard, because only the basic actions (use, look, move...) have a button.
Of course, that's only IF we use Quest. If you decide not to use it, I guess more things are possible.

If you can get Anons to make something from scratch, you'll get more flexibility, but it also means waiting for the engine to be ready before starting working on the game. And the more we wait, the more likely this is going to turn into a !!fun!! tantrum spiral with everyone leaving the project.

1) Devil Girl: Like Teaching Feeling, except you're a mage that has a tortured/mind-broken devil girl pushed into your care. Lots of head-pats at the start, but once the girl gets some of her health back you'll start to have discipline problems (see: "Devil"). This is a pretty much cyclical, endless game. (see: Teaching Feeling)

2) Three Sisters (not the 90's H-game): You're just another faceless anime guy who suddenly finds yourself as the guardian for three sisters. There's a run against the clock here: In like six months each sister needs to pass some test or they'll all forfeit some heirloom / prize / whatever. Currently, each one of them has severe discipline problems and will fail the test spectacularly. You have one guess for how faceless male can fix that. This is a standard VN, with several bad ends and several degrees of good-end.

3) Possession: You're a ghostly oni, invisible to humans, with the power to possess them. You have a gig with the Ministry of What's Right and What's Wrong, in which you act to increase justice in the human world.

The way this game plays is kind of like a visual novel: you're minding your business in some square / home / school when a situation starts. A girlfriend is acting bitchy / a student is skipping classes / a daughter is being mean to her limp-wristed parents / whatever. But because they're all normies, the situation will just defuse without a spanking, leaving everybody unsatisfied.

However, with your power, you can click on any actor in the scene to possess them. This lets you pick their actions, including what they answer. You can jump from actor to actor with some delay. Humans feel like what you made them do or say was actually their idea. There's a "spanking-inevitability meter" that starts and stays on 0% if you just watch (because fucking normies) and increases as you nudge people towards it. Once it hits 100%, you can sit back and watch the conclusion.

I could write an engine, and waiting for it to be completed wouldn't be a problem if we were all using the same codebase.

That said, there's no point in duplicating effort if we all decide to use existing middleware.

Absolutely none, but maybe if I have something to show for with open code in a language people here actually know, (As opposed to the thing linked by the guy you quoted) that could change.

So, I'm thinking I'm just going to start out with some of the suggestions in this thread and see if I can drum up some interest.

Basically, if we have a project being worked on by even only two people, that's a huge step forward for us...even if both people working on it aren't particularly skilled.

Oh yeah, as for being able to help... There is a lot of things you can do if you aren't incredibly confident in your code. Yelling at me when I screw up, editing documentation, brainstorming cool ideas, etc...

That said, don't be too intimidated by code. Since this is Git, you can work on a copy of the code and make all the changes you like separately, and if you are happy with them, then you can merge them into the main codebase.

Yeah, sorry about that... I just don't know of anywhere else where it is easy to revision control code with a bunch of people.

I'll go, if somebody else wants to present an idea/concept, don't hold back. MY approach is just an experiment. I'll write an Intro into the story and wait for feedback. Let's see how this turns out...

1) Play Teaching Feeling to get an idea of what game it is.

2) Program the structures for a game like that (ignoring the erotic bits for now). You'll need an affection counter, banks of random reactions for each affection tier and a main loop that advances hours and days, prompting you on what to do.

3) once you have step 2 working, add in the spanking specific interactions. From an early point on (taking the Teaching Feeling example, that would be a bit after the "girl gets sick" event) start increasing a "naughtiness counter", and then add a spanking action to the menu.

Most of the texts up to this point can be placeholders. Once you have these steps working, we can start adding flavor to the game. (adding the actual texts, begging for art, etc).
