That's exactly it. Psych student here. Essentially, some people develop fetishes and kinks out of truama or deep seeded phobias. It's a sub-concious anxiety managment system.

It's on of the reasons "rape fantasy" is such a common female fetish. It's not that they'd want to be raped, but the brain makes what would have been a scary, fucked up and traumatic situation into something they have control over, brain makes it sexy and you now own it.

It's a pretty weird but successful system if you think about. Mankind's greatest gift, the ability to fuck away the fear.

On the other hand though, trauma induced kinks are only half the picture. We can develop them in completely different ways that have nothing to do with fear or bad memories. Human sexuality is super interesting.

In that regard, I'd say I'd probably fear most of these sexy monstrosities if cornered in a dark alley, but the thought of them being misunderstood sex fiends just triggers a bunch of other fetishes and makes them all the more sexy.

As to where you can find this information, I learned a lot through my human sexuality classes and books in the past semesters as well as child development, but I also do a lot of unsubstantiated "research" into the area as well. The pregnancy side of kinks doesn’t come from fear though, but rather comfort as I grew up surrounded by pregnancy and had a lot of important developmental periods involved with it.
My fiancé shares a lot of similar traumas and comforts as a child and has developed the same kinks but she’s interested in it happening to her body instead of someone else’s. She loves the idea of being forced to act against her will, controlled by hormones or parasites and slowly turning into some sort of twisted breeding monster.
Of course all this junk could just be because we’re freaks though. There’s simply too many factors in each individual person’s development to say “you have X because of Y” but it is interesting to think about. Sorry about the wall of text, thanks for reading.

I can't say I know much on that particular subject as there's not too many studies into it outside of things like real life cases or serial killers and the like which has little to do with the non-criminal paraphillia side of it.

It suffers the same stigma as bestiality, gore and pedophillia where the criminal behavior that the outlying extremes bring to the surface, becomes the focus of the matter instead of the motivation behind it. The normal side of things likes to simply write them off as "unnatural monsters" hiding in humanity, ignoring the fact that 90%+ of the people who may have a fetish for kids, animals or the dead would never bring such an interest into the real-world or harm anyone to accomplish these interests.

Thus, even in psychology where I find things to be generally unbiased compared to mainstream understanding, there's still some colored pages.

But I'll see if I can take a shot in the dark.

An interest in the deceased come fromt:

I'm not really sure. Again, I have no inside experience on the subject because I don't know anyone who has the interest and I only go for zombies and the undead when they fit into my core kinks, like the body-horror or monster-girl sides of things.

This is a powerful notion in the human psyche, prevent death and holding onto something.

Of course, this is the emotional side, still unsure about the sexy side as I'm sure not everyone is into zombies girls that are all helpless and moe.

Some may get off to the consequences implied in reanimating the dead, I'm sure some like hard core undead that you've fallen subservient to, to prevent you're own death or something, being their sex slave and doing what you can to satisfy their appetites for flesh.

Not trying to say anything, but I do know that when i was little, i pulled back my cheek and looked at my jaw and teeth and realized that there was this sort of allure and majesty to it. I more or less forgot about this until i started getting more into fantasy stuff, but I was always drawn towards necromancy stuff. Something about the skeleton is just so inciting. There is this regal and majestic aura about the shapes and lines and the way gentle curves are formed in the bone. It's so sharp and abrasive looking, but has this elegant sense of warmth to it too. I never really thought about really writing it all out, but the skeleton is just so handsome and beautiful. All things masculine and feminine. Each interconnecting piece of a big picture, stripped away all of the ugly fluff that mars the wonderful structure hidden away. There are also other, more fantasy orientated aspects of it that are really capturing, but thats probably not for everyone. The skull is always my favorite. Whenever I brush my teeth, i always take a peak at my insides just to imagine the strong jaw within. Flesh is imperfect and fussy and far too often not to tastes, but bones? Well, it's much harder for the bones to be off.

That said I'm totally not into this kind of stuff, and I never have issues arise when playing an rpg and I go into a dungeon, not at all.

ha, naw, I totally get that, there really is a majesty to those calcium carbonate structures. I don't have a thing for skelies (outside of RPG tropes, because they truly do never get old) but I've still always had a fascination about them, collecting animal bones, loving anatomy museums and books when I was young, that sort of jive.

Funny though, my fetishes are kind of the opposite, I like flesh, the more the better. I'm all about the imperfect throbbing gooey stuff that gets in the way.

Got to love how contrasting the human spectrum can be between any random individuals.
