That's the joke, anon: in a world where everything is off the walls crazy in a universe that is as cold and unfeeling as it is infinite, Jerry is the one person who seems to understand just how insane everything is and the only one who seems to desire a normal, happy life free from an insane nihilistic scientist who routinely sacrifices the happiness of his "loved ones" for his own petty gain. And the show shits on him for it to show just how much Rick's presence has warped the lives of the people around him. Beth becomes little more than a simpering child whenever she gets a whiff of Rick's attention/affection and now even Summer has begun to idolise him for his intelligence and rebellious spirit. And although Morty is just now becoming disillusioned with the kind of person Rick is, Jerry has opposed him from the beginning. More to the point, he's made some very reasonable arguments about why Rick should be evicted from their lives despite their being hidden behind his own personality flaws. Jerry is literally the Anti-Rick: a simple, family-oriented, sensitive guy who just wants to be given the space to be normal. And, as Rick's many adventures have shown, the universe is no place for simplicity.

Rick may have a spine, but he's a repulsive person who couldn't give a shit about anyone or anything that isn't of immediate use to him. Jerry is in the right: the family desperately needs to distance themselves from Rick before it's too late. Such a shame that his warnings and protestations fall on deaf ears.

In that exact same episode it showed that thy were just as miserable apart as they were together, if not more. They may both have personaltiy problems and issues out the wazoo, but I believe they genuinely do love each other and they need to be together regardless of how poisonous their relationship is.
