Is this scene the pinnacle of original comedy writing?

>...no.
This is one of those things that never fail to crack me up. I don't even know why. It's so dumb but it's so perfect.

The comedic pacing and delivery are both spot on. It's absurdist humor at its finest. Modern Simpsons can't compare.
>>95382793
It is just amazing in every way. The timing. The absurdity. The already established contrasting personalities of the two characters. The sheer level of doublethink involved. The line delivery.

This was also hilarious

The worst thing to come out of /tv/ since Baneposting.
I can really see why this caught on, with people honestly and unironically feeling smart for getting the joke.
Incidentally, a completely different type of joke and sense of humor than the grilled hams
>>95379408
The scene is allowed to have good timing, be a bit slow and build up, and play without music. These are all things Simpson writers hate now.
>>95382968
>that K
It's the little things.
>>95381996Latino or from Spain? Both have suffered a decline in quality with time/spoiler]
>>95382968
what was the marketable benefit of making so many layered jokes? if i were the writers, i'd just do a quick punchline and get my paycheck
>>95381996
indeed
>>95385721
Well that's what The Simpsons does nowadays and basically nobody watches it. If The Simpsons weren't already iconic due to the multi-layered jokes, they would've been cancelled years ago for failing to make a product people cared about.
So basically "If I'm good at my job, I'll probably get to keep it."
>>95385721
It's called "caring".
Yes
>>95385721
Sometime you do things with love if you like your job.
>>95382968
