I cannot see the need to waste energy on a show that only airs a week of episodes twice a year and then nothing. You can barely call anything with that kind of schedule a show. It's more like a weird miniseries event at that point.

I never did. I never understood the appeal.

The crew does not know how to write cartoons.

This isn't even about keeping lore and characterization in the focus. It's about keeping the show actually fucking entertaining.
In season 1 even the townie episodes could actually be entertaining, let alone when plot started happening.
And I think that SU has to be the least funny cartoon I've ever seen. And I don't mean that in a "the jokes aren't funny" way, I mean that in a "there are no jokes at all" way.

I just stopped caring at some point and moved on. Last thing I remembered was Lars turned pink and was stranded on the Gem Homeworld. I also recall a lot of filler episodes that weren't entertaining in the slightest. The sporadic schedule gave me enough of a reason to drop the show entirely. I'd come on here and some assclown would start a thread a picture from a new episode and I'd have to stop browsing /co/ to watch it before I get the whole thing spoiled. It didn't help that the characters were never consistently on model.

I tried to love this show, I really did, but since the beginning it has been extremely flawed, from the imperialistic politics, to the animation, character design, consistency and the constant filler. It just got worse and worse. About 10% of this show I actually enjoyed. I'd rather watch a single episode of Adventure Time, Regular Show or Gumball than a whole season of this show. Learn to make a fun cartoon, not a cute and "safe" cartoon. The other shows on CN are funny because they push boundaries, the only boundaries SU pushes is the conspiracy that everyone is bisexual.

yeah, a lot of the humor is no longer there, the showrunners seem bent on giving screen time to characters that don't deserve it, the choices to fill the network mandated episodic episodes are horrible, focusing more in giving literal background characters an episode instead of using the downtime to expand the characters in a more relaxed environment (most of the development characters receive is in serious episodes and the reliance on drama to present this development has turned dry)
take, for example one of the best episodes in the series, Hit the Diamond, it's both an important episode because it advances the story a little bit, develops the characters and gives them a random activity to enjoy without a direct confrontation and the most important it was fun

you barely get that anymore as most one off episodes are just uninteresting because they focus on randos instead of the main characters which is the TRUE purpose that a one off should achieve
I still watch the show but only when the episode seems plot related

I swear, every year it's "HAHA SU IS FINISHED MAN THEY CANT RECOVER FROM THIS" or "that's it...finally dropping this shit" but the popularity just keeps growing and Rebecca gets more ambitious. It happened at the beginning of Season 3, then SU Season 3 went on to be the most successful to date. When everyone is talking about how much a show has dropped the ball it isn't actually going anywhere. When people are making 40 minute videos just to "debunk" a show as if it's flaws shouldn't be apparent enough, it isn't going anywhere. Face it, SU is king. It will be for a long time as well. CN has been cashing out on SU merch recently, which further cements the Quartz Rule. The Detractors cannot tarnish his reputation, for he is the son of Rose Quartz, heir to greatness.

I think they got a lot more seasons/episodes than they were expecting so they're just dragging out episodes lazily. Instead of making actual plots/plot important episodes or putting effort into enjoyable comedy (because they want both an ongoing plot and an episodic comedy cartoon without straying to far to either sides) they stay in the boring lane until they can show something important again.
