The problem is that most of Africa isn't starving.They have poorly run agriculture and such but they're not starving, and they're getting richer.

That's the problem though; they're not rich enough to have a Western lifestyle, but they're rich enough to afford telecommunications and travel.

But the economy of Africa has by and large improved immensely over the last twenty years. It's just hard to see because even those huge improvements were made from such a low place after the chaos of decolonisation. Places like Zimbabwe destroying their own economies due to stupid political policies hasn't helped either but by and large the average African is richer and wealthier then they've been for a long time. However, the issue is that they're rich enough now to be able to make a journey to Europe and afford devices telling them how good it is, but the economy still isn't good enough to keep them in Africa. Hence the massive exodus of 'refugees' from Sub-saharan Africa.
