This storytime will start in fifteen (15) minutes

Also I haven't read Mage yet so plz no spoil
>>

Ain't gonna spoil then

I didn't hate Runaways like the rest of /co/ seemed to (based on the storytime responses).

Probably falls into the 'it's SJW so I hate it' camp these days. That said, ain't like I read it.
>>
>>95340011
Hello, Storyteller.

Only just yesterday got power back. It was a very long, very hot four days.

The upside is that I ended up reading The Oathbound. Mercedes Lackey is second wave as fuck, and it's kind of hilarious.
>>
>>95340141
Honestly that didn't seem to be it, more of a NOT MUH.
>>
>>95340098
I didn't care for it, but I also didn't like BKV's Runaways at all so I don't really know what I was expecting
>>
Metal is awesome

That's all I've read

How are y'all
>>
>>95340169
There was a weird sporty = mannish vibe going around, I saw that. To which I can only refer Myfanwy Piper, Joan Hunter Dunn, all that Betjeman class.
>>
>>95340244
I'm just glad Metal is starting to actually be goofy as fuck rather than tying expositional anchors around its neck
>>
>>95340152
Congratulations Florida(?) anon.
>>
>>95340244
I'm still trying to figure out what kind of person can like Metal, or even consider it "awesome". Is it the kind of brainlets who unironically obsess over the """lore""" of the MCU?
>>
>>95340248
I'm not one to turn down a musclegirl or lovely athletic lady, but in that A-force group photo Shulkie didn't have boobs at all

still that was just one tiny panel and the rest of the issue looked fine, I don't get all the complaints about Anka

>>95340276
I'm enjoying it because it's doing quite a few things I like and the things I don't like are easy to ignore

Batman pulling Baby Darkseid out of his utility belt is probably the funniest thing I've read in a while
>>
>>95340276

Thoughts on Priest on JL?

>JUSTICE LEAGUE #34
>[(W) Christopher Priest (A) Pete Woods (CA) TBD]
>"LOST" part one! When the Justice League is confronted by three concurrent threats, a sleep-deprived Batman makes a crucial error that causes an unthinkable-and potentially unforgivable-tragedy. Legendary Eisner Award-nominated writer Christopher Priest (Deathstroke) is joined by artist Pete Woods for a brand-new must-read Justice League story like you've never seen before!

>JUSTICE LEAGUE #35
>[(W) Christopher Priest (A) Pete Woods (CA) TBD]
>"LOST" part two! Still greatly affected by the shocking events of the previous issue, the Justice League attempts to regain its balance when an alien infestation threatens the Earth. But nothing can prepare them for an attack closer to home... one that will reveal devastating truths about the League itself!
>>
>>95340276
It's just a dumb event that enjoys how dumb it is. IMO this stuff is bad more because it wink-winks nod-nods to the Silver Age without actually being as fun, exciting or interesting as it. Like, mocking is always easier than doing - as we should know well. But it's pretty inoffensive on the whole.
>>
>>95340314
>Batman pulling Baby Darkseid out of his utility belt is probably the funniest thing I've read in a while

Yeah, I think that Babyseid is a terrible concept, but in an event whose main mission statement was being ridiculous...pulling that baby out of a sack and brandishing him like a grenade is a start
>>
>>95340248
I think Anka deserves criticism, but at worse it was like generic monthly bad and not exceptional.

>>95340343

I'm scared it's gonna be an awful mess like Lazarus Contract so editorial better stay the fuck away.

>"The Fall of Slade" part one! Finally convinced that their leader is missing, Team Defiance begins the search for Deathstroke only to discover his situation is even more dire than expected. Meanwhile, Deathstroke-after being kidnapped by the Secret Society of Super-Villains-finds his past catching up with him when his former friend and ally Dr. Ikon confronts the repentant killer while repressing his own uncontrollable rage.
His other book still sounds neat as ever though.
>>
>>95340343
I might pick it up if I hear good things and if Mera is still on the team, the lineup is really uninspiring but Priest/Woods is an excellent combo

>>
I'm annoyed by people not realizing Mister Miracle not lining up with Metal and HalnPals is intentional given all the reality weirdness. Like at the very least the whole brown or blue eyes should have been enough of a hint that something is fucked up. Why can't people fucking read?
>>
>>95340260
Agreed, it feels Silver Age in a good way instead of a self-deprecating way. It's being stupid, but out of sheer unbridled excitement for the insane rather than from trying to be stupid.

Snyder's Batwank usually makes me roll my eyes but here it's just so shockingly over the top I can't help but admire it.

"Batmanium" sounded like something Gardner Fox might have come up with, and I say that in the most loving way possible.
>>
>>95340392
Only the first one so far. An interesting read, has a slow pace, but it doesn't feel tedious at all. Probably due to the likability of our leading ladies.

Couple things to criticize though. First, I take issue with the idea that Tarma is supposed to be ugly. Uh, bullshit, even from the descriptions, she sounds about as attractive as Kethry, who is supposedly the hot one.

Second, some of the explicit feminist elements don't really work. The sword Need, the emphasis on punishing crimes against women, it kinda rings hollow when the setting overall doesn't appear to suffer any extreme misogynist attitudes. Nobody gives a single fuck that Tarma and Kethry are mercs with vaginas, and all the deities we're told of are female. So like, it's a might off.

Otherwise quite enjoyable. Kinda like a fantasy Dirty Pair.

Wondie was a big wet fart of a finish that left every element that could have elevated it above filler unfulfilled.

I was lukewarm on Mr. Miracle #1 but #2 has me on board. Granted, again I'm not well-read on New Gods so it's quite possible I'm supporting some rampant mischaracterization unintentionally.

New Super-Man continued last issue's trend of being pretty empty and rushed, which is super disappointing.

Secret Empire Omega was basically just a treatise on how much better this event could have been if it weren't a supermegacrossover event. I do look forward to 15 years from now some writer plucking HydraCap out of obscurity to be a TWEEST villain in their comic.

pull the trigger.

It's not in America, basically we're being taught the basics of how to construct a comic book in 6 classes. Some of the advice I already knew because I'm really into the topic, but some of it was a real eye-opener. Also, all of my classmates are into manga instead of comics, so that's kind of funny since I'm the only one who can recognize the examples our teachers bring up.

Donald Duck as a put upon everyman able to unleash the fury of the downtrodden is why he's gradually replacing Christ as a figure of worship in Europe IIRC.

Both, really. But Scrooge is at least able to externalize it into something concrete he desires. Donald is just flailing and destructive.

I did first discover she was there by aggro dog freaking out and the corresponding skunk response
>>
>>95341581
No, it's both.

Scrooge is capable of great destructive rage, sure, but Donald has all that Scottish in him, plus service as a WW2 naval commando AND a less optimistic worldview that sees him dwell on the bitterness of failures rather than just move past them.

Scrooge never had a Gladstone to fuel his envy.
>>
Anything interesting in the solicitation leaks?
Tales of Suspense might be an okay miniseries.
I'm not too sure about Zdarsky Two-In-One

I am cautious about Priest JL, as he has written them before, but it was kind of weird
>>
>>95341521
Because of the crash they had to make up for the fact that they suddenly had a fraction of the customers by raising the price.

The pricing model needs an overhaul but it's such a big risk that if their first attempt doesn't work they go out of business, so they have to make ridiculously small changes over a ridiculously long time.

JL has been such a bland, generic book for so long that I'll gladly take anything different. And if you put your top talent on Batman, you should damn well be putting top talent on JL as well.

I have no interest in Zdarsky anything, and the teasing of FF stuff just irritates instead of exciting me. It seems like they're just trying to cover up the fact they don't want to/aren't allowed to bring them back by hinting and teasing and pretending it's all for the fans.

Also all the "look, it's a really old Silver/Bronze Age gimmick series brought back! 'Member da Silva Age?" is such pathetic and empty pandering. I don't like being this cynical but everything about Legacy has been so transparently vapid that it's rubbed me the wrong way.

It's so fucking funny to me that all this stuff made up by a bunch of hippies while they were literally dropping acid in the Marvel stairwells is being made into billion dollar movies.

Of course it's also pathetic that said hippies then get peanuts for compensation from Marvel, meawhile making bank from DC for supporting characters and third rate villains.

>>
>>95341797
>Scots aren't stereotypically temperamental and Disney was above using such things in 40s

The only reason why Scrooge exists at all is that Disney did a War Bonds cartoon where Donald's shoulder angel of savings was a penny pinching Scot out to get Donald to buy war bonds instead of listening to his spendthrift Nazi shoulder devil.
>>
>>95342106
Starlin got more money from KGBeast in BvS than he did for Thanos and Gamora in their combined appearances (prior to GotG2 at least)
>>
>>95342106
Starlin famously got more money from KGBeast than any of the Marvel characters he made that are in GOTG.

Len Wein made more money off of Lucius Fox than he did FUCKING WOLVERINE
