Never saw the 100. But basically when Bruce (and the entire Detective Comics team) is talking on the phone like a Dad that doesn't understand their own phone, I was expecting her to wake up from a dream sequence. It doesn't help when she's fighting off dudes in horse masks.

I get it, you wanna write a character being cute in a day in the life of a super hero. But this pulls her farther away from being any kind of relate-able person but not cool enough to being an inspirational figure. Instead she'll save Batman before breakfast and get to hang out with Poison Ivy and Catwoman. People like those two right?

I don't think that's necessarily true. They've given Dinah and Helena pretty solid issues as well. I'm disappointed with this issue, since I was hoping for more Helena being the central figure, and the threats were too goofy to really take seriously - but it was still reasonably fun.

Takara really needs to take more time with his art, though.

It's basically Lord of the Flies by way of Hungery Maze Running Divergent Games with people clearly hired more for pretty than for acting chops. 100 teenagers get sent back to the surface of the earth 100 years after a war wiped everyone out except the people who were on a space station ( which is now breaking down ). Naturally the surface is perfectly habitable and kids who grew up in space have no trouble going native, because television.

I saw the first ep and it just looked like another coat of paint on the typical CW tweenage wangsty soap formula.

and another damn thing, ending a story like this as though the character should get more R&R. That statement alone doesn't make her more relate-able, we've just spent the previous dozen pages showing that people will DIE without her because she's irreplaceable in their hierarchy.

It irks me cause my favorite characters, even the truly mary-sue levels of guys like Batman or Superman counter their heroism with your classic angst. There's some sense they get so much done because they always wish they could do more.

Takara's loose work is a style choice. But I wonder if he was the wrong person for this particular story. This feels like, if the writing wasn't going to change from what it is, it needed to be drawn by someone who was drawing much more cute and much further from the DC norm. Like a cute fanart. This isn't to imply that it should be drawn more cheaply, but to give it some more distance from the more serious books would only benefit this light hearted story.

I dont think Helena has had a solid issue yet. Her past and mother stuff was handled quickly and sloppily. Her reunion with Dick was 1 page. Her faith is ignored/glossed over, and even here we dont see what lead her to be a teacher.

Stephanie Brown is RIGHT THERE in the room. She's regarded as clever in the Det Com series in her own right AND is roughly the same phone wielding millennial age as Barbara is here. I mean sure I guess I get why Cassandra would want to try to punch impenetrable glass but Kate shooting it with a grapplehook?

But he's done much, much better work - Batman and Robin Eternal #13 is a masterpiece, and his work on Nightwing and All-New Wolverine is much tighter. I don't like what he did on Detective Comics or here nearly as much.

I can't say, honestly, since I only watched the first ep; but that was very much the impression that said ep left with me.

For example you had the Good Girl who is Very Strong Willed and Opinionated and the Bad Boy who inexplicably gives in to her goody-goody whims ( apparently just because she's hot ) and other than the fact she was a blonde she was pretty much exactly the chick from Vampire Diaries. Naturally she has an overprotective older brother and the Best Friend who's clearly smitten with her which fact she's oblivious to and so on and on.

If you've watched any of the DC shows you know how this works. I'm sure there was a Love Triangle too.

Well, to be fair, Tynion wasn't really a strong name when they switched him in. And that title seems to be really dependent on a lot of other factors.

I know "GIRL POWEEEEEER" is this books schtick but this issue was specially circlejerky. batman acting like a retard? 3 girls taking on 100 gang members with guns? batgirl singlehandedly defeats all crime in gotham for the day? they're trying to overcompensate for the lack of all girl power across all media at this point
