So what is the appeal of this show, anyways?
>>
>>95297522
-it's freakin' epic
-it's cool
-it's looks just like your japanese anime. like DBZ and Totally Spies!
-Raven is soo deep
-Starfire is hawt and kawaii
-it's not as good as ATLA but it's still freakin' sweet

Teen Titties.
>>
>>95297522
Nostalgia.

Admittedly Raven and Cyborg were very well done characters, especially compared to their comic counterparts.

Nostalgia.
More seriously, because it's a rather unique product of its time. A heavily anime influenced show that fused action/humor/drama in fairly equal parts before doing so was popular, the show filled a niche that other shows at the time didn't really fill. The character designs and personalities were all distinct, and the use of seasonal arcs gave them all a sense of character progression. Honestly, the action and humor elements of the show have not aged well, but nostalgia has blinded people to that, and there were legitimately some really fantastic episodes here and there.

At the time it was rather different from other super hero shows. Prior we had X-Men, BTAS, Superman and Justice league. All were more adult-ish, and had very little comedy. The characters in all of those series rarely had Positive interactions with friends on a regular basis.

Teen Titans was different. It focused on relationships between young characters and had themes related to teen strife, (namely overbearing authority figures).
Moreover, it balanced comedy and action in a way that hadn't been really done well since the 19880s version TMNT.

Finally, it had girl friendly story lines, making it popular across genders.

Add in the Waifus, shipping and an early Anime-esque style and it was bound to be a success.

That one was way too on the nose. Either the time travel one, the end of Terra's arc, or fear itself.

Its a legit solid show and holds up much better than anyone gives it credit for especially upon rewatching it. The TTG fiasco has soured people's perception of the show due to the outcry of the fanbase and compared to DC's current crop of shit like YJ its much better.

What does that have to do with anything TTG writer #573985943?

Really? Cause I watched a good chunk of it since it's re-airing, and it's fucking unwatchable. I could watch Street Sharks fully, but not Teen Titans.

You see you're just saying the opposite to get a reaction from him. The fact that use used Street Sharks as an example gave you away

It has the same contrived TV tropes for super hero shows as shit from the 90s, example, Iron Man Adventures, Batman the Animated Series, and especially X-men: the Animated Series. And you know why these shows are remembered and praised? Not because they're good, but because they stuck with the source material at the time. Cyborg used to be a quiet nerd, Anime Titans turned him into a fucking giant joke jock that was loud and abrasive. Seriously, the only reason you look back so fondly was because of Raven and Starfire, and even they were mockeries of their og comic counterparts.

If you wanted a teen version of a show done well, X-Men Evolution is the one that fucking struck paydirt.

BTAS is praised precisely because its good and has nothing to do with its source of material. The Teen Titans comics are pretty garbage and the reason why there wasn't much of an uproar over the characterizations in the TV series being completely different is because nobody cares about the comic versions of those characters outside Dick and the characters were done well enough that they just brought back those characters with the 2003 personalities due to their popularity.

Oh wait this is a troll nevermind

Kharyborg is the best part of TT and the only true Cy. Even original Wolfmanborg is fake. Khary's heart knew the words. It always had.

>>
>>95301754
Low quality bait, dog. Raven is a key element to many of the best episodes.

Though really each of the Titans is necessary. Their personalities all balance each other out.
>>
>>95297754
heavily anime influenced

>>95297792
>Anime-esque style

Where are those "anime" elements? Character design is typical of western cartoons, and so is this kind of lazy storyboarding.
>>
>>95301827
The Japanese theme song probably should have tipped you off. The characters go chibi sometimes and have typical anime expression cues like the red anger marks or the giant sweat drops. The character designs and the action scenes are both more Japanese than, say, the DCAU, which definitely took some cues from anime itself
>>
>>95301827
Going off of >>95301945
There were brief visual homages to certain anime as well. FLCL in particular had a brief nod early on, and a slight running gag about a moped throughout the series, which culminated in the episode "Employee of the Month."
