Post obscure animated films

What an anomaly. With that out of the way, I thought it was pretty comfy.

I wouldn't call CDD good though, it's more in the OK territory. Good animation, OK characters, weak story. Danny didn't have enough charisma, the penguin was a crappy side-kick and Darla was hard to take seriously as a villain, even with her Frankenstein's monster-esque butler. The only good character was Sawyer. And the story was dull, predictable and cliche.

Now I'm not saying it deserved to bomb, but it isn't a criminally underrated gem either. Unless you're really into toddler panty shots.

Cats Don't Dance isn't really that obscure, but it is a gorgeously animated movie that can make me forgive a somewhat weak story. I got the bluray of Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron for the same reason.

And I think most good "underrated" or "forgotten" animated films are ones where the animation was really good or they did something experimental but the story didn't click with people.

Reminder that the rift monster was animated with the use of real life calf brains smushed around under intense heat lamps. Those scenes took months to complete, and the animators were constantly sick and hurling because the smell was so fucking bad.

I watched this for the first time the other day.
I mean it wasn't that good, but it was far from terrible. I actually found the animation, artwork, and colors to be fantastic, while the plot was...fucking insanity. I don't fully understand what the fuck they were trying to do, but hey, it was fun. The cat kid was adorable.

There was this extremely obscure animated feature on Nickelodeon that featured a concert and a space shuttle shaped craft that was sort of hovering above it. I remember the doors would open from the bottom. I think it was a musical...that's about it.
