Sometimes you will get non sexual romantic urges like to go on dates and be emotionally involved with someone, so they might still want a relationship, and their bodies function perfectly well so they can still get off if stimulated, but they dont feel any need to do so like people that have normal sex drives.

I don't really agree here, asexuality can be caused by phobias of fear or insecurities, but that is not 100% the cause, asexuality has many causes, one cause does not totally rule out the others. Asexuality is very flexible and more complicated, having the label has it's ups and downs, it's perfectly fine to want to understand yourself more and those labels can be comforting, but the thing with asexuality is that it is flexible and open to change, it's not a total constant for everyone, so some people do go through changes when it comes to their stance on how they feel over sex.

This is sort of what I deal with. I dislike labels but if I had to fall under any it would be asexual. I typically try and avoid dealing with the subject. I've never been abused or can find any other reason I'm this way. I've never had any interest in sex and despite having plenty of people interested in dating me, I've just... never pursued anything. I've never even had a crush. To be honest, it's a bit of a lonely feeling. I feel very strong friendships with people, and those are extremely special to me, but romance? Haven't felt it. On certain parts of tumblr, there's this weird almost puritanical obsession with asexuality or "demisexuals"
Like the Dickfags in the comics fandom that got really upset when he had casual sex, because it ruined their pure, totally not a slut husbando.
It's a weird kind of doublethink where people should totally feel free to be sexually liberated and do what they want with their bodies, but also sex is totally gross and icky.

My main problem with asexuality this big identity thing, is that it's something that can change all the time, with hormones, medication and mental health - or just finding the right person. Yet when you place a big part of your identity around NOT doing something, you're going to be less open to change and fear losing your place if you DO change.

And I don't get the need for it anyway. I used to think I was asexual, and while I felt relieved finding people on the internet as disinterested in sex as me, I was very quickly put off by how much importance people placed in it. I mean, in the end all you have in common is a lack of interest in something, yet these people seem to let that define themselves.

I should also say that I think proximity plays a huge factor for attraction, so having genuine relationships is a big deal.
