Well to me, at the end of the day, it’s really the same art form. I think people really do a disservice to themselves when they decide not to read something just because it is or isn’t Japanese. Nobody would object to recommending Japanese films in a quintessential films list, after all.

War Stories
Battlefields
Rover Red Charlie
The Goon
The Maxx
Usagi Yojimbo
The Crecy

>kraven's last hunt
So fucking out of place in that list. It has aged badly, it's ok to admit it.
>>
>>95276800
>anything Loeb
Nice way to invalidate the rest of your post.
>>
>>95280531
It's aged better than David Hulk and JLI though.
>>
>>95276800
>Anything Loeb, Millar Miller or Moore has made
I love all 4 of those guys but this is just false. They have some stinkers, notably Loeb and Millar have some straight up abortion tier stuff.
>>
>>95280566
Considering the next guy he mentioned was Millar it wasn't valid in the first place.
>>
>>95280645
>>95280674
>>95280566
90% of what they have made then
if you pick up any random thing they've written, chances are it's more entertaining than most authors could do

+ Go Nagai, especially Devilman
+ Tezuka
+ Lazy Matsumoto
Probably a couple more.
Speaking of Howard the Duck, Destroyer Duck.

>>95280494
I'd add Metamaus

Messages in a Bottle, compiles some of Bernard Krigstein's work, published by Fantagraphics.
The artist Joost Swarte, check out his book Modern Art.
I was pretty stunned by Pax Americana #1, not because it plays it Watchmen, but what it says about the form itself and about the reader.
Hip Hop Family Tree by Ed Piskor.
El Eternauta, heard it was overrated in it's own country.
Flash Gordon and other stuff by Alex Raymond.
And a quitessential book in American comic history is Seduction of the Innocent.
>>
>>95275990
The whole vertigo classics.
Hellblazer, Swamp Thing, Transmetropolitan, Sandman, Enigma, Sandman Mystery Theatre, etc.
Some are edgy, and I know ones like Hellblazer started at DC and Transmet was Helix but they've all come to be known under the vertigo banner. But I feel like everyone should read them.

And then move on to mature comics for mature readers like myself, preacher and The Boys.
>>
>>95280708
90% of what Millar has made is utter trash
>>
>>95275990
The Incredible Hercules
>>
>>95276766
>Rover Red Charlie
I wasn't prepared for those feels
>>
>>95280708
I definitely will give you that for Millar but I would never recommend Trouble or the Unfunnies over a mediocre Dan Jurgens comic or something, despite how much more entertaining those comics are. Loeb's shitty comics are actually just really genuinely pathetic comics centering around his dead son, they are not entertaining, they are super duper cringey. 90% is a stretch for Loeb and Millar, but good numbers for Miller and Moore.

I've never seen it storytimed so I don't believe you

Not the same anon, but Dematteis could never pull of the ideas. The sewer guy parts were badly written.
>>
>>95282162
Vermin. And while they're certainly not as good as the Kraven parts it's not such a dip in quality that it makes the whole worse for it. But that's just me and I can understand where you're coming from.

This is a list of things that i think anyone who's into comics should read. A few of them are only okay DAROS, Knightfall, Blackest Night, Civil War but they're all very significant in their own ways.

The Dark Knight Returns
Batman: Year One
All-Star Superman
Amazing Spider-Man up to a logical stopping point
Multiversity and Flex Mentallo (if you've been regularly reading comics for at least 8 years)
Flash of Two Worlds
Crisis on Infinite Earths
Hellboy
Invincible until you inevitably lose interest
Death/Return of Superman
Knightfall
Civil War
Secret Invasion
Legends of the Dark Knight (or at least Gothic)
Watchmen
Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow
For the Man Who Has Everything I personally think the JLU episode is superior because Jason Todd isn't there, but you should read it first
DC Rebirth Superman
Blackest Night
Final Crisis and the good tie-ins (After you've been reading comics for at least 6 years)
Batman RIP
The Invisibles
>>
>>95276258
This right here.
>>
Sandman
Lucifer
The Man Without Fear
All-Star Superman
Hellboy
Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow
For the Man Who Has Everything
The Boys fite me faggit
Ultimate Spider-Man
The Phantom

>>95276711
If you mean in the context of 4chan, then you gotta remember that there's no board for Japanese films. Unlike anime & manga.

Dorohedoro might be my favorite across all mediums. With Sandman racing right behind it.
Doro is getting kinda fucked over by the stretched out ending though.
>>
>>95280625
no fucking way about jli. it's pretty fucking modern even today, since it was basically a sitcom it had themes that are still used in comedy today
>>
The Airtight Garage
>>
Sandman
Vision
>>
