Hopefully the niche fanbase can go to social media about it, try to bring it to YT's attention. It's wishful thinking, but worth a shot. It's messed up how a small team tried to broadcast their show abroad on a official channel only for it to get wiped.

Maybe they are in talks to get picked up on a channel or streaming in another country?

Would be an explanation for removing the vids but not a ban.
