GI Joe shouldn't have been given to Aubrey, the beginning was alright but then he just dragged on and it's boring, as always whatever little we got of Cobra and Skywarp is the most interesting stuff in that title and that's pretty fucking unacceptable for GI Joe.

Yes, and they always did some cop-out to specifically not mention Unicron by name. I think they told the whole Primus legend thing once only anyway, in the Annual where Cyclonus retells the creation story, and the gay video bot says "this is gold, I never heard this version before" just when the story is about to mention Primus's opposite.

And it was great that they are not bringing up Unicron because before that, they had every single TF continuity building up to some big Unicron fight. They laid out a basic plot about who are the good and bad guys, and just as the good guys win, some Furmanism is mentioned and bam reveal a secret cult or some manipulation that leads to Unicron.

So basically it got fucking boring. As fucking boring as how they quote the 1985 movie every single time something big happens. I laughed so much when Galvatron quoted the "one shall stand one shall fall" line, and then Optimus just goes "no fucking clichés" and beheads him.

It's said right there in the show "female autobots". They're shown to be romantically interested in and to be of romantic interest the male transformers. Orion and Ariel are explicitly said to be boyfriend and girlfriend. There's no ambiguity. Why did this ever become an issue?

Overall I feel the post-war narrative is very interesting, given that usually the TV series (which I watched more often) tend to end not long after the war.

If anything the problem with IDW is the same problem plaguining every post-Animated piece of Transformers fiction, the creators forgetting that they are making shitty stupid pulp SF series about colourful alien robots and instead of trying to amp up the campyness and 80s cheese, especially now since that's popular with shit like GOTG and Thor 3 they are trying to be EPIC and SERIOUS and DARK.

I feel a lot of people who jumped ship because of the crossover garbage would come back if we had a single Transformers franchise only pulp-SF FUN series. Especially if it's drawn by Milne/Perez as demonstrated that he has enough star power pull to make even the die hard crossover hater buy the ROM VS TF book.

IDW was literally the easiest thing to get into back in 2012. You buy MTMTE Vol.1 and start reading and boom you have your series about colourful space alien robots on a ship doing colourful space alien robot stuff.

That's why you had so many MTMTE only fans that pissed of the geewunn manbabies because they were enjoying their comic and didn't care about the rest of the franchise. A good chunk of them then migrated to RID because they wanted something else to read to pass the time between issues. It was what made them popular. The new status-quo was easy to get into.

But then Hasbro smelled M O N E Y and buttfucked the premise of an isolated stand alone book with a crossover, and then kept buttfucking RID with event after event every year until it lost all of it's MTMTE readership who went MTMTE only. Then IDW shoved the shared universe dick in Transformers assholes and then proceded to replace their most loved artist on their most loved book an the sales tanked because all of the MTMTE only fans got a cold bitter taste of what modern western comic book industry is like.

The only way for IDW to get back at the 2013 glory days is to can ALL THE SHIT and just say "fuck it we have a Transformer comic book and it has NOTHING to do with any other franchise and there will be NO CROSSOVER EVER". Only then it might attract people again.

But it won't happen because that would be a sign of weakness and of your idea "failing" and that's the worst thing you can do in any industry so they will force their way though the shared universe despite taking a loss on the sales because of the "if I start eating shit I need to finish eating shit" mentality of the American corporate structure.

This is what happens when you let fans dictate the franchise. Just look at how utterly awful ANYTHING Stars Wars Related that's been done by fans.

Fans by nature get so ball deep into the franchise that they overthink, over-analyze and utterly destroy anything that's fun about any given franchise. They can't look at Transformers rationally as pulp-SF akin to something you'd read in a shitty 70s 1$ novel. They treat Transfomers as if it's MEGA SERIOUS TOTALLY REALISTIC BADASS FOR ADULT property.

Furman was the main reason we went down that root because he was given unlimited reign of IDW and he had to bring in hi fanboy autism into the fiction.

That's why Beast Wars & certain G1 episodes are so much better than the majority of the comic because they were written by people who understood what they are writing and were having fucking fun with it.

I don't want the comics to be as heavily revolved around topical themes as they are today but G1 80s cheese for the sake of being campy sounds just as fucking bad. The Furman Era and early MTMTE issues of the IDW comics were fine because they were fun and that's what these comics are forgetting- it's supposed to be fun.
