Those of you who are just regurgitating the same opinions that were on the story time of this weeks Iceman or the nearly weekly thread to often 2/3 x a week thread about Jean's forcible gay rape of Bobby's mind and his 50 years yadda yadda are just pretty sad - to be this booty blasted about a fictional character that has only had two other solo runs, one a mini and the other barely lasting I think 6 or 8 issues.

As for the rest, sex is like anything else - excessive amounts of alcohol or drugs or food can be and often are bad for you. You should individually make up your own mind what works for you and respond accordingly.

As far as character development, Mighnighter had more of it in the first two arcs of his mostly violent, standard superhero self-titled where he was supposed to kill Hitler than in his mini in 2015 or last year's Midnighter and Apollo mini. But either were better than the slow path to discovery that Bobby has been on over 5 issues. Issue 4 was better than the other ones mostly because things happened. His gayness and coming out wasn't the focus, dealing with Douche Wolverine and the Obnoxious Stupid Mutant Twink were. They need more things like that, were the gay is part of the story, not all of it, and it's not an issue or a major factor, just an ordinary thing like it would be if it was Dinah and Ollie, or Peter and MJ, etc.

As a recovering queen, I can tell you that--for me at least--it was a confrontational thing. When you feel like the world's telling you to keep your mouth shut, stay out of sight, and generally don't make waves, it can be pretty tempting to throw it in people's faces when you screw up the courage to come out. Less admirably, I'll admit it was a power thing too. When you feel marginalized and pushed aside and despised by folks, the ability to make people uncomfortable at will can get kind of addictive. So yeah, at least some of the time it's just being an jackass.

But it's the sort of thing you can get over if you want to. I did around the time I needed to get a real job. That said, some of it's still just personal proclivity. I remain fairly fabulous in my downtime, just not particularly swishy anymore. The ability to have straight friends (and honestly, more friends in general) took some getting used to.

At the end of the day, it's a kind of gay militancy. And militancy of any sort (while occasionally necessary) disturbs and upsets most people.
