Because Drax, while calling her ugly, also sees other qualities in her and acts like a general good guy around her. He is bold on his opinions but treats her well and is genuinely a good friend and even saves her in the end. There is no abuse at all in their relationship.

I loved her. Very cute and the drama and comedy scenes between her and Drax were really well done. It was just unfortunate that she didn't really get to actually do a whole lot and I found the movie as a whole to be disappointing.

I agree with Drax. She's scrawny and hideous but she has some minor redeeming qualities. Still 1/10 would not bang though. She is for curt platonic interaction only. But only occasionally.

No, their version was so watered-down and afraid of touching on the character's godawful history under Englehart that she became a plot device at best but typically nothing more than glorified wallpaper.

Nobody likes any version of comic Mantis for her character, they like her cause she's cute and sometimes barefoot. That's fucking it. At least the movie version had a personality, a sad backstory, and some great chemistry with the other characters, Drax in particular.
