The writing, the jokes, the characters and the voices is something you like. The animation is kinda clunky and they look like plastic dolls, which you do not like.

I loved this movie without even considering the designs bad. It was great to show kids because you got to make them feel smart on the second watching by pointing out the clues.

The original movie had a well written plot with an interesting story that did not depend on cultural references, and the movie took time to develop personalities for the cast. But it was made with no-budget CGI animation that made it look terrible.

What I don't get is, why is the sequel such crap? It was supposed to be the same script quality with better animation. Why did the story suck so much?
