The appearance of the protagonist has a HEAVY effect on how we perceive the media. The style of the story, with short slice-of-life stuff, works best with a little kid.

The title of the arc was also a Lovecraft reference, if I recall. I need to finish it, but considering what we'd seen up until I left off and the aftermath shown here >>95168399, it was a much more benign and literal sort of version of the Lovecraft story with more of his typical stuff mixed in.

The Rats in the Walls is the only Lovecraft story that actually horrified me and I'd recommend it to anyone who's interested in what he's all about without having to wade through his lesser works, but it's missing some of the stereotypical points about totally disgusting monster miscegenation that this parody leans more on. And the monster isn't really the rats, they're just the symptom of the problem.

It's supposed to be once a week, but it looks like it slide into an every other week schedule. It's been a little while, but the pace feels okay for the release schedule. Or at least a once a week schedule. Not that it couldn't be faster. It's just not the most engaging of comics, so I don't feel a deep, immense desire for more immediately.
