Part of the problem is that the scene shouldn't be happening in the first place. The archetypal warrior woman (Brynhildr, Atalanta, etc.) would never decide to hook up with some random dude, especially a wimp like the guy in OP's pic. The very idea of a woman deciding to get some no-strings-attached dick is a very modern conception of how sexual relations work. It indicates failure of imagination, fear of challenging the audience or lack of taste.

Comicfags need to just deal with the idea that the mystic robe-wearing straight-face magic asian man thing was never going to happen in the movies, because if they were going to black up the Thor cast, they weren't going to open up to negative asian stereotypes. But they did waste the idea by not using him as a means for magic introduction.

It needed a revamp, have him using magic rings and being threatening, BUT still keep the twist that in real life he's just a wannabe playboy. The stage motif is all an act, and Trevor's not up for murder or the actions in his name. Hell, I'd have him idolize Tony, or at least who Tony was. He jumped at the chance to play villain to the hero, and be like Tony after. It would also be a way to tie into Tony's issues. He's been expecting since Avengers that the villains are only going to ramp up, to get more fantastical, but this is where in reflection, all he's faced has been creations of his own attitude and technology. Obadiah Stane and the Iron Monger, Marco Scarlotti and Whiplash, and in comes the Mandarin and he can't see a pattern growing right in front of him because he's assuming THIS is what my next trial is, THIS is where the journey has to go.

As for the Mandarin title, Tony's like 'so even the magic's fake?' and Mandarin's bigger twist is going 'oh no that's real' and he uses Spectral to blow up stuff, introducing magic marvel. Reveal that he won it in a card game back in England, some guy who only spoke in Chinese and was drunk as a skunk. Kept saying Mandarin... name stuck there I guess. Great for street acts. Tony asks why he never used that for stealing money instead, Trevor goes 'well... huh, I guess I hadn't thought of that.'

So when pic related happens, he's not taken for name grudges, the old Mandarin wants his magic ring back.. and to meet this curious man who controls magic so well without training...
