Why are video games allowed to have variety in CG art styles but not animation? Will audiences really refuse to go see a movie because it doesn't have the same generic sheen over it as a Pixar film?
I think it's because Disney has a certain style (even if it's pretty bland), and then other studios try to make their films look similar to sell them.

everyone wants Disney money, but the most succesful studios were the ones who went with "fuck it, i'm going to do it MY way"
...and then Disney bought Pixar and started to make same movies as them.

also, there is variety in CGI, you just dont look enough
>>95149391
>why are video games allowed variety
What are you referring to, because Okami was a bomb

Audiences will refuse to see a movie if it is over 22 FPS.
cost certainty

Or that the previous, near-decade long generation, had an unhealthy amount of "realistic" looking shooters chasing the Call of Duty train.

>Referencing a movie from 6 years ago
For everyone one Captain Underpants movies we have seven films that look like they could've all been done by Disney.

>Bomb
>Got a handheld sequel
Was it?

OK
IF THERE'S ONE THING I HATE ABOUT CGI MOVIES ITS THE EYES. THEY ALWAYS HAVE THE SAME BIG FUCKING CIRCULAR EYES THAT TAKE UP HALF THE FACE AND THE SAME EXACT FUCKNG IRIS AND TINY ASS PUPIL. IT DONT MATTER HOW SMALL THE EYES ARE ITS ALWAYS THE SAME GIANT WIDE EYED CIRCULAR PIECE OF GARBAGE. IT MAKES FUCKING ANIME SAMEFACE LOOK 5000x BETTER. I DONT CARE IF BIG EYES MAKES THINGS LOOK CUTER TO KIDS JUST USE DIFFERENT SHAPES, HELL EVEN MAKE THEM BUTTON OR BEAD EYES JUST PLEASE END MY SUFFERING.

Do you know what Marketing is?
A better question would be, are people inherently more stupid now? Or have the tools of massive communication made easier to spread the stupidity of people.

It's literally a commercial failure

>Strong fan support of the game led to a sequel, Ĺkamiden, on the Nintendo DS, and a high-definition remake for the PlayStation 3.
Bomb would imply a full-on disaster. Having enough fans despite low sale numbers enough to get a few more things out of it wouldn't really suggest bomb. Commercial failure would have been accurate to say from the get-go.

Because everything else is anime and North Americans fucking hate anime. RIP Kon

What's your point?
For every Okami we have ten games that have an artstyle of "Bland realism".
